Alright well I'm lost on what frame to get here is the run down

1ST-2006 Transition Preston FR 4 or 5 inch travel
cost-$979
shock-manitou 4 way
frame weight with shock-8.9 lbs

2ND-2005 Versus Blitz 4,5,6 rear travel
cost-$699
shock-manitou 4 way
frame weight with shock-9.7 lbs

I want a new frame to use at my local trails,I'm 5 foot 6 inchs tall and about 160 lbs..my local trails has a mix of everything mostly freeride with a fair amountof XC and some DH mixed in
The Preston has a better warranty and a better crash replacement policy, I like the idea of having the Versus because of the 3 travel settings where the Transition only has 2 ..the Preston is lighter so that is a plus but the versus is cheaper
any and all input is welcome

you could get a coiler, would be a perfect choice too though you cna't really get these as frame only, they would be slightly lighter than the preston, no travel adjust, however you could get dangerboy/betd rockers...i have an older 5" stinky forsale for between those too prices if your interested, size small

this seems to be a great bike. I have seen a lot of people with this bike that love it.

dude you have to go for the preston. i got one about 6 months ago and just had a chance to really push it last weekend. its was awsome, the frame will not be a limiting factor for any type of riding. it can go big that is for sure but i have actually ridden mine alot as an xc biek and it does a good job theree as well. not having the 3 travel options in not a problem because of the quality of the travel that the frame has. i ran mine at a dh place all day in the 4" mode. also the construction of the frame is top notch and the guys at transition are awsome. also i have mine with a air shock and that brings the frame close to an even 8 lbs.

I am also going to be buying a Preston. I test rode one the other day at my local shop and loved it. It pedals beautifully, is nimble and super nice. Hoepfully I will have mine in about two weeks. I can't wait.

Like everyone else says, the company is making awesome bikes at decent prices with excellent warranties. What really sold me on the Preston was watching one of the owners riding one on some trails.

I was trying to find something for the same purpose as you - a little of everything, but capable to handle the rough stuff.

Go for the Preston :)
