Well, as you know, when we first got Diogee, he seemed to like to eat the lumps out of Louie's litterbox...we even have a picture of him with cat litter all over his nose...

Hmmmmm, how come dogs seem to be the pets that eat gross/weird things...and not cats...?

Can you tell I'm a cat person?:p ;)

Dude, I think your dog has a problem. The next thing you know, he'll be stealing catnip, staying out late with the bad dogs, houling till the sun comes up and taking money out of your wallet to satiate his catnip habit.

Either that or Diogee just likes cat dung...

I once came home and found or dog had tried to eat glass. I don't think he managed to eat any because his mouth wasn't cut, but how did he even manage to break the snapple bottles in the first place?

I had a dog similar to my avatar who ate a bag of disposable razors, chewed the middle out of a beer can, ate a couple of couch cushions, pulled the carpet up, dug the sheetrock out from around a window, and managed to let himself out of a locked house.

Seriously though, you should consult with a obedience trainer. They usually have some miracle solutions to this problem. Friend of mine lived through a similar situation. She claimed that consulting the trainer was worth every penny she spent - it was the same dog just without the undesireable habits.

I personally feel that it's cruel to keep dogs and cats locked in the house all day. Animals need fresh air and room to run and play - I won't own a dog because I don't have the yard to let run while RangerGirl and I are at work. The cat door that we installed shortly after when we got the kitties mellowed them significantly. No more climbing, clawing, racing about, etc. The number of slain mice/birds/whatever HAS risen though... ;)

Our puppy ate our piano, window sills, railings, shoes, bike tire, ping pong rackets, pillows, table legs, sofas...etc.

Then we realized he was a beaver...not really, collie, blue healer cross.

Stupid dog. We took him in for free, good deed kinda thing, and he ended up doing thousands of dollars in damage.

Next time I'll just get a slug.

Believe me I have my guilt about leaving her home.. but I only work 15 minutes away and I have a cool boss and can bring her to work as much as I can.. I also take her running to the park the second I get home.. she's a happy dog just a puppy. Eventually i'll work from home and then this issue will be solved..

Well...
Here is what I do for my terror cats.
Get a ordinary squirt bottle (like a windex type, not a sport type)
and fill it with water.
Smakin the animal does very little to control behavior.
Spraying your animal in teh face with a little water does wonders.
Plus, it is much more humane.

Now for the story...
My two Dachounds got up onto the table and ate the defrosting chicken we were going to eat for dinner.
Plus the plastic bag it was in and the twisty.
Lame huh?

Well what about my old co-worker whose dachounds ate a pound fo coffee beans. Their poor little hearts went so fast that they eventually "blew-up".:(

My one year old lab now has a fetish for phone lines on the side of the house. As of Saturday he has now eaten the line for the house phone and the line for the computer also.

Make sure you have line insurance as it's $ 90 for Verizon to fix it, had to pay for the computer line but the house phone was free.

Dutch my 12 year old German Shorthair has eaten many odd things.

An entire Costco Value-Pak of pork spareribs. Raw, bones, saran wrap, and styrofoam.

An entire frozen chicken. Raw, bones and all.

An entire prescription bottle of the prescription strength Zantac. He was freakin miserable after that. Zantac = no stomach acid. A bottle of Zantac = no stomach acid for days.

An entire 1lb box of See's chocolates.

11 dozen of those little hazelnut snowball cookies that you get at christmas.

My 1999 Federal Income tax forms.

Many rolls of toilet paper, and paper towels.

"Feminine hygine products", nasty.

Another "Special talent" my lab has is "Collecting Turtles".

I have no idea were they come from, 12 years living here and I have never seen a Turtle in the yard.

I have a dog kennel along side the house, complete with a dog house and a gate for the kennel itself. Most of the time its not used and the dog goes in and out as he pleases, along with run of the yard (1/2 acre).

Well the dog finds these Box Turtles crawling around the yard somewhere and brings them to his dog house. The current record is 3 turtles in the dog house at one time.

He is a real piece of work with this and he could not be happier with himself when he "Shows you his collection. Never hurts the Turtles, just keeps them too play with till I take them away and set the Turtles free.

So i got back from a ski trip in Switzerland last year and I had spent 50 swiss franc on chocolate to bring back for family and friends. I packed it up with some other stuff real tight inside my ski boots with clothes stuffed all around the boots and then inside of a gigantic canvas duffle bag so that customs couldnt take it if it was found. the plane arrived in jfk at 11 am then i drove 5 hours back to lake placid by that time it was 4 am so i didnt unpack i left everything in teh bag and by the time i woke up in the morning the bag was eaten open with my ski clothes all around the house all eaten and the ski boots were more or less eaten in half and all the chocolate was gone. :( but you really cant blame her

About two months ago I showed up at our instructor lineup and told our director - "Aaron - I cannot teach the first lineup" "Why not?" "Uhhh . . . My dog ate my goggles . . ."

Isn't it great - you find out that all of the foam's been shewed off and ripped off of your goggles and the lens are all scratched up with dogie teeth . . . Had to get new goggles . . .

I have had a handful of animals that ate a plethora of inappropriate/funny items...

Rootie, the beagle - ski goggles (the foam), pillows, blankets, carpet, couch cushion, couch cover, ferret litter, grass (not too exciting, but it made him barf), a CD (can't remember what band), the squeaky thing out of the middle of a squeak toy, the plastic liner to his dog crate, two of his harnesses, the kitchen door and floor moulding, a corner of the wall in our new house, the edges of his food dish, jalapeno & cheddar cheese dip

Tank, the mutt - twisty ties seem to be his favorite thing, the giant electrical cord that provides all power to our shed, the comforter cover, bed sheets, kitchen table legs, the tassles on the welcome mat, the wooden screw hole plugs from the futon

Sarah, the beagle - any insectian invader (two nights ago she stalked, attacked, and swallowed a beetle and then one of those giant mosquito things), the same electrical cord that Tank likes, an empty flower pot, couch cushion, couch cover, blanket and stuffing from the crate, fleece blanket, slipper

Kyle, the ferret - a green pillow case, which we discovered when he was pooping twisted green stuff, ski gloves, socks, just about anything cottony or knitted, grapefruit (not a whole one, just a few pieces)

Slinky, the ferret - my gerbil (well, he killed him but didn't actually eat him)

Gizmo, the ferret - my hamster (same deal)

Muffin, the cat - spiders and grasshoppers (she would come in the house with little legs hanging out of her mouth)

I don't have any dogs, I have parrots instead. They like to destroy their chew toys with powerful beaks. Here is Jewels (Orange-Wing Amazon born in NJ), he turned 8 on May 24th (I got him when he was 6 week old and handfed him):

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rmaizel1/jewels.jpg

And Topi (a Greater Vasa born in CT), taking a bath in his waterbowl (Friday is bath day - he does it every week at the same time) Notice the massive custom lexan splash/seed guard I had made for the top of his cage - its even thicker than an evil bashguard:

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rmaizel1/topishw1.jpg

Topi has one of the strongest beaks I've seen. He broke his lexan 2-piece marble trap into 4 pieces (If I get any Evil bashguards or Atomic Ballastic pedals, he won't be allowed to go near them :D ):
