View Full Version : Nixon Platinum vs Pike 454?
I am looking to build up a lightweight trail bike (Blur LT probably) and have my fork options narrowed down to 2 forks... The Nixon Platinum intrinsic and the Pike 454.
Both are just over 4lbs, and are 6in forks with travel adjustability, but other than that I have no clue.
First of all, do either have a lockout?
The most important question though, is how does the ride quality compare?

I have a Pike 454 Air U-Turn and love it. The pikes offer a "lockout" either bar mounted (poploc)or crown. You get approx 10mm of travel when it's activated with an adjustable "blow-off" via the floodgate. I have no time on the Nixon but I will go as far as saying that the Pike is the best All-Mountain fork I have ever used. Just as a warning if your thinking of getting the poploc, make sure that you want the hb mount for the life of the fork because you will need to get a new MC cartridge or modify the cart. to get compression and the lock out without it.

go with the pike, the LSC is practically a lockout only better. They are super reliable too.
Both are great forks. I've only had minimal ride time on each, but they both have a ton of adjustability and are very versatile and very reliable. The Floodgate feature on the Pike gets huge points in my book, especially if you are into DJ/Urban riding.

all i can say is that i love my 454. i have the dual air with poplok. although i never use the poplok though its nice to have if you need it. btw i just put the pike through a good day of DH the other day and i performed very well. i can safely say that it is a tough fork.
