I know it was stated the Mark Weir and friends were going to be designing the DH course for the US Nats, but I'm wondering if anyone has any updates, some inside scoop, pics or anything. (And please, we all know the deal, so leave out the unnecessary derogatory comments and stay on topic.) Thanks!

I just got a press release that made me choke on my coffee.

a small quote

"The mountain bike downhill course could be one of the best downhill courses in the world. Perched high atop Cougar Mountain, nearly 400 feet above the raceway..."

lol that's funny...........but you can almost the whole course from the bottom, that's gotta make it world class.

Haha, yeah, I laughed at that too which I why I was hoping somebody here had a little more "real" info. I remember seeing some video of the course from last year and it was mostly an off-camber, bench-cut pedal fest.

I thought I read here somewhere that Mark Weir and somebody else were going to be designing a more "4x" course or something like that. :clue:

The course may be entirely viewable from the bottem and they have a Nascar track but they won't have Burt Reynolds. He'll be at Snowmass....signing autographs.

i think it has 800' of vertical, and there's almost no pedaling, which makes it easy to figure out who knows what they are talking about and who doesn't . What sucks is that there are no rocks and it like 1/2 as long as the mammoth course.

Oh yes. Beavis is buildin it with Weir's help so expect it to be like all the fun stuff he builds...really rough DS. Super tight berms, tough jumps.

If Wier's involved, he'll prolly throw in some 200' incline about 7/8th of the way down...just to see who has the fitness!:help:
