Has anyone ridden the Brian Head super d course? What's it like? How much climbing, course length, amount of single track vs. fire road, tire choice for that area, ect?

We raced it last year. The fastest times were in the 12-13 minute range and the slowest was in the 30's. There were a few climbs but not long. Lots of fast single track:D . It rained last year so there was alot of mud during practice but it had dried up for the most part and was hard packed for the actual race (with a few mud spots).

Here's the link to the results so you can check out the classes and the finish times: https://www.usacycling.org/results/index.php?year=2005&id=1188&info_id=4869

There are some pictures of the start and the finish on our team website at: http://www.nobrakes-racing.com/2005/Gallery/Brian_Head/main1.html

It's fun. Not a lot of climbing, but your at 10,000-11,000 feet, so you still get tired. Mostly single track. It's called "color country", so you can see it on the map at the Brianhead web site. The dirt is mostly loose powder with lava type rocks, that usually are rolling around in the middle of the trail. In August, you can expect rain every afternoon there, so your race could be super tacky/fun or a full on mud slick. Bring some 2.3's, maybe high rollers or Larsen TT for the rear, and 2.3 minionF or similar on front, butbring some mud tires just in case (2.3 swamp things?). You could probably get away with a 2.1 rear, but I'd worry about running anything smaller than that.

Contact Krispy at Go-ride, he races superD and knows the course really well.
