I have V-brakes. The front one isn't engaging, I made sure everything was set up properly, it seems to be, but when I squeeze the brake it won't let go. I'm not sure why. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Could be a bunch of things:

1. Overtightened brake mounting bolts
2. Dirty/rusty housing
3. Bent lever

Probably the best diagnosis method is to loosen the cable anchor bolt, then:

1. Manually squeeze the brakes
2. Hold the cable tight and then pull lever
3. Release cable and then pull lever again

You should be able to find what is causing the brake lever not to release this way.

probably not but if you have pretty worn down brake shoes that were not installed correctly and have a little bit of a material lip thats getting stuck under the rim then youll need to replace the shoes. probably not though.

It's fixed. Took me a while due to no time now that school has started. But the mounting bolt was to tight.
