Hey, I'm looking to but a new mountain bike, spending no more than $600, and one of the local places carries Rocky Mountain Bikes, which I've never heard of, along with Trek and Specialized. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them and how they compare to Trek and SPecialized. I do mostly like wood's trail riding, like snowmobile trails and stuff, so if you have any suggestions on a good model or information about Rocky Mountain Bikes, it would be appreciated.

I really like Rocky Mountain Bicycles. For $600 you will probably get a much nicer component spec on a Trek bike. Rocky and Specialized usually have a little nicer frames, therefore they look expensive when comparing component specs.

Rocky does great stuff. What hardtail are you looking at? A flow?

The two that they have here are the Soul ($649 I believe?) and the Vapor ($550 I think...). Have you guys heard of many people having problems with them? I have a friend who's brother just started working at the place that carries them and he says they've sent quite a few back? Anything to worry about there? I do really like the frame on the Rocky better than the Trek and Specialized though, I have a Gary Fisher right now and the frame's are very similar, not as big as the other two.

I have a Rocky Mountain Spice from 2001 that I've handed some pretty good abuse to. It's held up just fine.
