The only "good" explanation I can think of is that Putin did that affectionately to his own kids and just did it automatically. Fvckin' weird though.

well, considering russians are more touchy-touchy than americans and western europeans, kiss their moms in the mouth, even in their 20s, and men kiss each other, that could account for his impromptu...

but even then, it was a unrelated kid... thats pretty freaky.
