Just curious, since the wheels are 700c, could you put a rigid fork on and ride it with 25-30c tires? Or would that screw up the geo too much?
I had my Karate Monkey set up as a singlespeed, rigid road bike. It was fixed most of the time.
It certainly isn't road bike fast, but it was fast enough. I ended up buying a real road bike later, but I loved the KM in fixie mode. Did tons of centuries and a few gnarly bike tours with it. Fun as hell to ride to a race on the road and then race off road.

I definitely think you could - in fact, I keep contemplating just that.
I could use the cash that my Serotta would bring - but it is such a sweet riding road bike it will be hard to part with it.
But the KM does roll well on the pavement in my opinion.
