I have a 2004 Marzocchi Z1 Drop-off II. The fork has an internal rebound adjuster that I am going to attempt to adjust. It came with a long rod to turn the adjuster. I am planning on unscrewing one of the top caps and seeing what happens . . . the fork has air 'helper' chambers on both sides (filled through the top caps) and I do not know which side the adjuster is on. Anyone pulled one of these apart? Anything I should not do? Do I need to unscrew the nut at the bottom of the fork before unscrewing the top caps?

Before you do anything, go to www.marzocchi.com and download the manual. All the rebuild info is there in the manual. I wouldn't reccomend doing anything without the manual.

Marz website does not actually list my fork. The manual that came with my fork leads me to believe that all I need to do is unscrew the top caps from the crown but I am worried about somehow damaging the air helper chambers. Thanks for the pointer, I am probably gonna call Marzocchi tomorrow.

I just popped off (both) caps. Nothing but springs and oil in sight. Perhaps if I compress both legs the magical rebound thingy will be revealed.

I also guess that the air assist just adds pressure to the entire fork assembly.

Last night I compressed both legs and I think I turned something with the adjuster rod but the fork feels the same to me. I probably need to drain the oil to see what I am doing.

I just removed the spring from the right leg and added a tiny bit of air to the leg. Going for a ride after dinner . . . the fork feels great in my back yard.
