My K2 Razorback's rear triangle got a small crack where it holds the pull-shock, one of the bolt holes cracked.

I found this picture, see the 2 bolts that hold the shock? the front one cracked because there's so little material around it IMO and I use the bike for all mountain not XC

Should it be welded or could I get a whole custom one done beefier? Would the weld be stronger or weaker?
how much would something like that cost though?

Thanks a bunch

You can weld aluminum, but it needs to be heat treated afterwards and you need to know what kind of aluminum was used.

Frankly, I think fixing it might be more money than just finding a new frame. Or finding a used frame just like yours and pulling the rear triangle off it.

Price, there's just one big long bolt running through the middle of that shock. That holds it in place just as if it was bolted to the frame.

the shock is mounted to the frame on the seat tube and then that rear triangle stay ma-bob pushes against it. the shock is a pull shock rather than a push shock, instead of compressing the shock you stretch it

BV, yea I'm starting to realise that now and am looking around at different bikes. I also contacted K2/Iron Horse and my bike is under warranty but I don't know yet what they can do for me
