This is brought on mainly by my fear of puncturing my neck with my steerer tube, and my be unwarranted, but-
I have a Syncros stem from '95 that I've ridden constantly since new. Paint has flaked off around the welds (hmm...), it has been through hundreds of crashes, a garage or two, a tree etc. Is there any reason to be concerned? Fatigue life has to play a role here somewhere.
So... what do you all think?

Just replace the thing. $40 and you can have something which last you another 11 years.

That would make the most sense... but I just like it too much.
Anybody else?

Easton only warranties their stems for five years. That should tell you something.

I would replace it if it was mine.
