huh...Earth Day, right?
"We're able to enjoy the beauty without really disrupting the pristine nature of the place," the mud-splattered president said after the 65-minute ride. "It's a classic way for mankind to enjoy God's gift. Plus, we get some exercise."
A long convoy of SUVs and off-road vehicles rumbled behind the group, carrying medics and security agents with machine guns.
fvcktard.
why don't you tell us how you really feel.

So, you are like the Pres when you drive your vehicle to the trail head... who's the fvcktard now?
We get solid weeks of rain and threats of flooding and he goes and rides all the muddy trails with SUV's in tow?
Fvcktard indeed.

Did you read the article?
They FOLLOWED him on the muddy trails in those vehicles.
We are having deadly mudslides up in the north bay only a couple weeks ago. Bikes shouldn't be on the trails let alone SUV's.
Who's the fvcktard?

In addition, it stated he was mudcovered....excellent conditions to ride in mr President. Perhaps he should skid like crazy around every corner and ride around obstacles to further widen the trail?

How is driving to a trail the same as riding muddy trails with a FVCKING CONVOY in tow?
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to N8 again.
Why?
If someone makes 1000 idiotic statements a day I should get to rate each and every one of them!
As if it wasn't bad enough that he had to start an illegal war on Iraq.

If I only had a http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif for every time I've read about or seen pix of some Monkey on here on a muddy bike trail or wheeling their truck thru the mud I'd be a narlus.

You people are all fvcktards.
You're acting like they destroyed some pristine wilderness with SUVs when in reality, if the trail was wide enough that a CONVOY OF SUVs could follow a bicycle, then I DOUBT they harmed much of anything at all.
...and let me guess NONE of you have every driven offroad before either right? None of you have ever ridden in the mud.
Jesus Christ you guys can be fvcktards.

Oh, so mud has NEVER splattered on your bike? Right. Get a clue:clue:
I didn't say that.
If there has been some rain, and it's not too bad, I'll ride a trail. I stick to the center of the trail, and I don't widen it. I don't go out if it's is closed or the trails are too muddy.
We have had WEEKS of storms in the north bay though, record rainfall in alot of areas - lots of trails have been totally closed until recently. Flooding all over Napa, Marin and Sonoma counties. Mudslides - a man was buried in his backyard just a week or two ago. The soil is still saturated up in the hills.
So I think in that case, taking a convoy of four wheelers on muddy trails in an area that has seen massive winter and spring damage from rain and flooding and mudslides on FVCKING EARTH DAY is a really retarded idea.
What do you not understand here?

Are you an idiot who cant read, or can you not see past your own nose. IT WASNT EVEN A ****ing MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL. If you READ THE ARTICLE you'd see it was a rutted out road.
I just wonder about people like you sometimes. Sure, you hate the guy, but hate his policies. The man rides mountain bikes, which is a fact that makes me like alot of people I wouldnt normally socialize with. I can respect that he has a hobby I like. Because some "mud" was splashed on his bike, you start frothing at the vagina? You're a loser.

So you see nothing wrong with him talking about celebrating earth day after having a convoy follow him?
I'm not as concerned about the Mud - it happens and I've ridden in it. But I didn't have a convoy of fully loaded gas guzzling SUV's with me. The SUVs on that road probably didn't do it too much damage, but to say that what any of us has done is even close is just ignorant.
Plus - earthday should be about cleaning up places (I used to join in the clean up of beaches when I lived near them) and conservation of natural resources. To claim that you are celebrating earth day while a bunch of in-efficient vehicles trail behind you is idiotic.
N8 is still the biggest Fvcktard, but you get second place.

I can read.
President Bush marked Earth Day with a lung-busting mountain bike ride high above Napa County wine country, dodging ruts that sent several of his riding partners crashing into the mud.
He relished the swampy conditions on parts of the trail in this remote state-owned tract, leading his partners repeatedly through huge puddles and streams running high after weeks of heavy rain.
So fire roads don't count?
Whatever.
Bush is a retard and we are headed into the dark ages. I don't care if he rides a bike, that doesn't make up for all the damage his admin has done.

No Sh*t the president travels with a convoy everywhere. I thought he rode his bicycle by himself all over the place. Didn't he and Laura just do a nice hike in the fields around Baghdad? Frother Fvcktard award candidate.
Go for a ride... and since you have to have a convoy - don’t cite how great it is to do it on "Earth Day"!

I disagree. I dont think H8R knows his ass from his elbow. I would bet that this "trail" was a gravel road. Hell, I guarantee it. It's all alot of frothing for nothing. That some reporter called it a "trail" doesnt quite jive with the fact that a convoy of SUVS were rumbling after him. Its not like the secret service drives lifted jeeps either...

I would bet that this "trail" was a gravel road. Hell, I guarantee it.
We have alot of fire roads that criss cross through the forests in northern California, such as this one:
http://images.usatoday.com/news/_photos/2006/04/22/bushbiking-large.jpg
They are wide enough (at times) to get an SUV through. They are not gravel roads though, most of the time they are multi-use trails. Driving an SUV down them for any reason other than a FIRE or other duties that a ranger may need is idiotic.
This didn't promote an earth-friendly attitude in the public eye. It promotes a "go ahead and drive your SUV through a pristine forest" kind of attitude. Bush is an irresponsible moron, plain and simple.

He may have killed some kids for Dick Cheney to feast on. I must admit I don't know if he planted a tree or not.

One rider's opinion:
I also tried to go mountain biking in Napa on Sunday. We went to Skyline Park and found out that bikes and horses were not allowed that day.
We drove to Fairfield and did Rockville, which holds extremely well in the rain.
During the last two months, I have been mountain biking maybe 7 times (I was on the road about 35 days). I have been avoiding the trails because of all the rain. I'm not talking about a mud puddle, or even riding through a swamp. There has been massive erosion all around the Bay Area. Homes have been lost, major highways closed for the long term, and people have died.
Riding on the these trails right now, particularily in Napa where they have received the most rain (about 50 inches in the last two months) is a bad idea.
I know most of us might not consider that, especially when it comes to our Sunday rides. But it was a bad idea to ride there, much less bring a motorized entourage.

Here's a good read:

...the Palm Springs Desert Sun reported that by riding through the area, Bush had ignored the “voluntary avoidance” guidelines at the Monument. The guidelines are meant to protect a species of endangered bighorn sheep...

Yes, yes, so we have a President who thinks it's cool to ride his bike around on Earth Day. Like it reassures everyone that he is not the most environmentally backwards leader we have ever seen. Good, good. Well, Mr. President, why don't you do something for the rest of us mountain bikers and retract your "Roadless Rule" fvckup so we'll have somewhere to ride in 20 years when we've completely deforested ourselves. Or how about you stop having your people change science to allow your bed buddies in the natural resources extraction industry continue to rape the lad we're trying to enjoy.
