I will have the timing equipment to do qualies and then we will seat everybody into a series of motos. The course is unchanged from last fall and won't be changed until mid-summer, so there will not be any problems with storms unless they are hitting on Saturday.
Format: Practice anytime you like. Run qualify at 5 pm. Start motos ASAP. Keep all alcoholic beverages out of sight of parking area(Dry campus).

The usual suspects can find lodging at my house anyone else can camp in the yard! My yard is less than a 1/4 mile from the track. Make reservations promptly oh and no swearing if my kids are out!!!!:mumble:

Probably be two man, and no $$ unless someone wants to put some on the side. Motos will be seated randomly. The qualifying is really just to get some practice, but the top three will not be placed in the same moto.

The DH is always open and the ETSU guys are actually trying to build something new around the slalom course. Be gentle they are learning! Winner does get bragging rights which is better than $$!!!

04-28-2006, 03:38 PM
come on, i know somebody can tell me what the course is like

stubby
04-28-2006, 06:44 PM
starts off with a short peddaling section then a sharp turn onto a bridge you get one pedal stroke in then you go of the drop to flat, someone said 6ft but i dont remember, then if you do the drop and dont take the detour, its all really flowy, a open section with some rocks you can launch off, some braking bumps, then some little hills up and down then you come down go off a drop then you turn to the right go up around a tree and then go back down and hit the rockgarden, the course is very fun, just look out for those trees, and dont take any of the detours, especialy around the bridge, the rockgardn is hella cool. but yeah the dh is totally tits, i would ride it on either a 4x or dh bike, just make sure your 4x can hold up to the rockgardn and drop, or you could take the detours and pedal your arse off. up to you.
sorry i cant describe stuff for crap.

stubby
05-05-2006, 05:11 PM
the dual course is fun, starts up in the woods on a hill w a fastspeed run, then turn and a few hundered feed hit a little roller double and then a huge tabeltop jump, then a washy berm and a jump and a hip jump thing then a washy berm and then the rythm section tipe thing then jump and corner then a big jump and then pedal to the final big jump. I think. thats how i remember it.

Everyone remember that this is a friendly competition that will broken down into an Expert and Sport class. There will be dual with qualifying, but with BMX motos meaning everyone will get at least 3 race runs before the semi-finals. The four racers with the most points will race head to head for the title and the best trophy ever (some junk from my house).

The DH trails are always open and we will time runs there as well. Mostly for bragging rights but I should be able to find more junk for the champion.

Directions: Take I-26 to Johnson City, TN. Take exit 31 and turn left (either direction) and approx 1 mile on left will be Southwest Ave (ETSU Campus). At four way take left (Still Southwest Ave) and then take the first left. At the end of the road is the physical plant recieving warehouse. Park there and the slalom is on the left.

so whats the story with this illigitimate race you guys got going on may 20th.... got any pics of the course? is it hardtail friendly? you racing mtx, ds, or dh? whats the deal.... i'm bored out of my mind waiting for my 303 and need to fill the voids (massanutten, US Open, Sugar) in my DH Race schedule. give me some info. and pics!!!!

profro
05-09-2006, 09:37 PM
Yeah, bring your hardtail. The DS course is a lot of fun and totally competitive on a HT. The DH course is rideable on one, but some sections will slow you down a bit. It will be fun.

Turn out was low, but it was still a lot of fun. We each did 3 timed runs. Andrew Parson won the DH. I don't remember his fastest time, but a 1:38 sticks in my head. No prizes, though Andrew really had his eye on that broken weedeater. My fastest was a 1:41 and I think stubby got a 2:09. There were two other guys that ran the DH as well, but I don't remember their times. The course was muddy and real slick. The dual course was way too muddy to run, so we called. I believe either Andrew or Terry would have won that as well.
