Are the Mavic 717 nice, worth it, and are they light?

I would save my money and pick up a 317 (http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?id=15037) -- the old designation for the 717 -- nearly identical rim(may be the same rim).
395 grams is a very light rim.

I use them on my Dawg Primo. The rear lasted two seasons, not bad considering i am 200+ and it is my primary mtn bike.

My ride weight is about 190 and a friend of mine is over 200 and we both run the 717's. I've had mine a full season and so far they are no worse than anything I've had in the past. Like all rims you need to maitain the tension and true. I think they are worth the money. I'm sure you could get cheaper but not lighter. Did you look at the reviews at Mtbr.com?

The 517 was I think the rim brake version. The 317 is a disc only rim. Pretty sure the 717 is the 317 with a new number.
