hey guys,

i'm looking for a strong stem and bar combo (for freeride/dj/urban), but i'm not sure what is best to get (let's say money is not an issue).

i always thought that thomson stems were the best, along with their seatposts, but i recently read somewhere (forgot where) that thomson stems/seatposts are best but not for abuse because they are engineered to be lighter at the same time reducing a little big of strength. is that true?

so, because of that, i've been looking for a better solution.

i was looking at the deity bar/stem combo or the .243 racing bar/stem combo. 243 also makes seatposts too. not sure which is better though. truvativ maybe?

so, can anybody tell me which of these to get or recommend others to me? thanks.

I know quite a few people who run Thompson stems on their DH race bikes. They don't seem to have a problem with them. Some people complain about the stem slipping, but I have not personally seen that. The Race Face stuff is heavy, but I have heard no complaints about it at all (once they figured out how to stop the black ano from going purple). Lots of good reports about the SIC stuff, too.

Personally, I'd run Thompson with no hesitation.

there is no p in Thomson. I use them and adore them. Never bent one and never had a noise or problem.
A true no-brainer. Best seatpost made.
Eason carbon bars are my fav and only choice.
The only stem i would use other than the Thomson is a RF Deuce.
Personally I have never seen a destryed raceface duece stem or any Thomson product.

I'll forgive your spelling Deus as "Deuce" if you forgive the "p" in Thomson :)
