Hi,

My girlfriend wants to run a 180 (7") disc on an MX Comp fork. Is that OK or is it unsafe? I am not sure but thought they could have a maximum of 160mm disc brakes.

Please respond if you have experience with this.
Thanks.

I dont really know anything about this, but I ride an 8" rotor on my QR fork. Heck, my bike came equipped with the 8" rotor and an EXR pro, which is crappier than an MX comp. I wouldnt worry, but I have read a warning or two somewhere on the internet about using 8" rotors and QR forks. I guess the braking forces can rip the wheel out of the dropouts? Then again . . . my bike was specced like that.

Blah blah blah, you increase the risk of your hub popping out of the drops with a large diam rotor like 8 inches. Increase the risk...doesn't mean it will happen. My GFs bike has Hayes 8 inch brakes...I just clamp the QR down to mother****. It's a good thing she doesn't really ride.
