They are made 20 minutes from my house. The owner is a great guy.
What bikes are you running them on? pics?

I've got mine on my heckler for trail riding and light DH like Downieville. (Yeah yeah, wrong forum, I know.) I use it a lot. I ride road bikes and like to have full extension for climbing, but I also ride DH/FR so I'm way more comfortable with a low seat for descending, tech stuff, etc. This lets me have both with the flick of a lever and it's great.
Here is a crappy pic:

My new mustard Transition Preston. Great bike, picts coming soon.
What about the speed ball? Maverick's option seems like a pretty elegant solution. The 380mm height seems like the only real kicker.

"Elegant" possibly in the eye of the beholder. The GD works VERY well and is a cool bit of engineering and can I keep my hands on the hand grips at all times. Many sizes and colors to choose in right or left hand control.

No doubt the GD is a good product, but I personally find it difficult to justify spending $200+ on something that I can do just as well with a QR clamp. Then again, I do not race or ride in a way that its functuion would make that much of a difference.

The Maverick only adjusts 3" and the GD is 4"
Anyone have pics of the NEW GD. I heard they are black now with engraving on them?

I thought the same thing 'til I recently put one on my LenzSport Alpine BrawlerDH (converted to trail use). If ever a bike was make that needed a GD, the Lenz is it. 27.2mm seat tube precludes the use of a standard QR telescopic post, and there's all of ~1" of adjustability with a standard post (shock reservoir clearance issues).
I have the manual GD...no handlebar control. Rode Gooseberry, etc in S. Utah last weekend and had an ear-to-ear grin not having to get off the bike every 60 seconds to lower my seat in order to drop a ledge or roll a steep. Reach down and pull the release, and I'm ready to climb again. I've been pedaling the Lenz around as a trail bike for almost two years now, and last weekend's riding was made 10x sweeter by the fact that I wasn't constantly having to interrupt "the flow" by getting off the bike. So much up/down/drop terrain on the slickrock mesa's that a GD would be nice even on a bike with an full-length seat tube, IMHO.
I'll admit to choking on the $200 price tag too. I was, however, lucky enough to find a used GD less than half the cost of new. Best $$$ I ever spent! :D There's a reason you don't see too many of these in the second-hand market. Once you try one, you DON'T want to go back. I'd pay full-price for a new one without hesitation...
The post is very nicely made; no cheap crap. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Oh yeah... :weee: YMMV.
I'll grab my camera later and post a pic....

First off the GD is standard in 3" but can be had in 4" and multi-postition model in many lenghts too. Like I posted before, I have the black post with black boot. Yes it's engraved and looks good. Also comes in silver with any color boot. I might post a picture of it later.

Whats up with your post? "First off" and "Like I posted before" Did I upset you or something?
I just posted a fact. GD adjust 4" and Maverick adjust 3" max.
Yes there are the multi height and 3" versions of the GD.

I'm not upset. Did I not say that I had a black post at the beginning of this thread? The standard drop is 3" with 4" available and I was just stating the facts. That is all. I think Wayne would take it back if you don't like it. It would be great on that nice Fly of yours.

Wayne lives about 20 minutes from me. We have talked many times. Ill see if I can try it out. What is your thought about the remote on the handlebar? How easy is it to break if you wreck?

It's a super light trick little part and would probably get mangled if you crush it on a rock. I haven't tried that yet.

yes, what the ripper said. I keep mine only as tight on the bars as needed to work just like the other controls. If you broke it you'd be screwed until repaired or replaced.

Could you mount it upside down or in another spot?
Any pics of the black GD yet?

Kanter, yea I suppose you can mount the lever under or over as long as you can push it pretty firmly with your thumb. Sorry can't take a picture for you at the moment. Dealing with a couple of technology issues both at work and home. I hate being the IT man.
Stop by GD and say hi to Kim and have Wayne show you some cool posts. If you take your bike you can get just the right length.
