My Demo 8 was stolen last night off my car. I left it on my car from about 11 pm to 12 am and when I came out to bring it inside it was gone. It was on a Yakima King Cobra rack (it was locked to the rack) and to get it off it was pulled with force until the brackets connecting the rack to the bar broke. It's a 2006 Demo 8 I (1) model, probably not too many around. It's stock except for:
Race Face Diabolus Crankset,
Diabolus handlebars,
Race Face Lock on grips,
e.Thirteen Supercharger guard,
e.Thirteen SRS guide,
Crank Brothers 5050XX silver/black pedals

It's the khaki color, size medium. Maybe if this pops up in the classifieds on pinkbike or mtbr or goes on ebay or something somebody can let me know. I'd appreciate any help I can get with this one. Thank you very much. It was stolen near Torrey Pines and Tropicana in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Serial # PF5D3016

Unlucky, that sucks. Were you followed home or was it opportunist?

that sucks dude, but seriously, what were you thinking?

I'll keep an eye out on the sites I visit. Try and watch the craigs list in yoru area, and maybe give flyers to all the bike stores.

...man that really sucks, but leaving your Demo on a roof rack in Vegas?!

I'm from Jersey, and whenever I go to A.C. I duct tape my wallet to my taint just to walk through the crowds...

Crackheads are everywhere in both cities, so I would definitely keep an eye on all the local pawn shops if that is humanly possible. Some base-head probably is going to try and unload it there.

That sucks. Did you know that non MTBR members cannot see the pics?

Try the pawnshops by old vegas, It's a wonder what shows up there as well as boulder blvd.
I use to own Black Forest audio over on decatur and people will steal anything there. Transiants like to pawn stuff all the time, most likely it'll end up at bootleg canyon sooner or later.
Sorry to hear about that, that really sucks!

Yea, i left it on the rack for about an hour last night, I couldn't bring it in at first, and when I came back out it was gone. It was locked onto the rack, and both the rack and the bike were gone. I'd love to see some punk ass kid trying to haul a 45 pound bike that doesn't roll down the street. It's not a bad neighborhood, nothing I would ever have expected, and I don't leave any bike on my car or outside if I can help it, last night I just slipped up. I filed the police report today, I've called about 20 damn bike shops around here, and I've called all the local riders I know. I'm in the process of getting the information I need to talk to the pawn shop, but I think I need to wait 10 days before the police report gets to a detective, then I have to call the detective. It was on the driveway, so I'm filing a claim through hoeowners insurace, so hopefully its not too long before I can replace it. Here's a pic, sorry bout that.

Thank you so much for the help. Even if you don't find anything, at least saying you'll look is good enough for me.

THIS BIKE HAS BEEN RECOVERED!!!!

I feel like an ass for all the hell I rose today. Me and the girlfriend were driving home from dinner, we rounded the corner onto her street and I saw the bike at a house about 8 houses down from my girlfriend's, where it was stolen (I've been driving slow down the street all day, and I've also been making sure every single bike I saw was not it). It was still locked into the damn rack! It was propped up against this guy's garage, and it had obviously been messed with to try to get it out, but it was still locked in. Somehow it has a flat tire, i dunno. All that for nothing!! I'm more excited now than I was when I bought it!

Sorry about all the fuss, thanks for the support.

You should break into his house, steal his remotes, and all his socks

Damn, that would really suck

Glad to hear you got the bike back though! :thumb: did you get the authorities involved?

THANKS!!! I'm gonna kill the fool. Actually, if I find out who it was, I'm considering pressing charges, its a felony, grand larceny. Thats enough to scare the **** out of any punk who took it. I don't know if I'm that mean, but I guess that'll be decided if I ever do find out.I'm lazy, I posted the story on the same thread on mtbr. Thanks again :)

Um, you better call the cops in on this one or I'm going to punch YOU in the face. I had my $3500 Transition stolen a couple months ago. Better believe these people need to be prosecuted.

It sounds harsh but you need to prosecute this person, not out of hate or anger but out of respect for the sytem as totally twisted as the system may be. Just remember that this person, yes even bike theives are people, worthless people but people all the same, not only took your bike but your rack too, that requires forethought, and that shows a lack of respect for you and your neighbors, if you don't prosecute you might as well just give this a$$ keys to your house and leave for the weekend. Sorry for the rant, I hate theives

The cops were definitely involved. We didn't rule the guys whose house the bike was in front of until after the police got there. We don't know who it was is all. They knocked on a door or two, but that wouldnt do much good. We were talking about getting fingerprints taken off of it, but one of the officers had a point that a trial really wouldnt hold up in court because it was left outside3 in the open, basically. She said we could find 2 fingerprints, or 50, but it wouldn't necessarily mean that whoever's fingerprints were on it stole it, they could have used gloves or something. The district attorney would just rip it to shreds. We have ideas of who it is,but really no way to know for sure. Unless they confess or something. Maybe I'll just have to beat a confession out of em. :)
