Looking for a starter 4x bike under $1,000.00. I would like to hear some opinions. I also race BMX, so I want it to handle like a cruiser. Thanks.

Specialized P2. Maybe a little heavy but you can easily lighten it with new cranks and a new fork. I have a 2003 P1 and it's a really fun bike, super quick and maneuverable.

I concurr. The 06 P2 is more like $1200 or so, but it'l be a solid 4x/everything bike.

Anyone try the GT moto? It looks pretty nice.

A different soul cycles - www.ridesoul.com - check out the loki or the titan. Both have ISCG mounts are are going for pretty cheap. The loki ($185) would probably have tighter geometry.

The soul cycles roscoe is another thing to consider buts its more on the DJ end, it'l be about as similar to a cruiser as you're gonna get, not neccesarily a great race bike, but it would do the trick.

Anyone try the GT moto? It looks pretty nice.Thye stopped making it I think (or 'evolved' it into the chucker) which is a real pity that looked like a great frame.

If you can get a Moto, I'd say that's more 4X than the P series frames.

The new P.2 retails for 1100 FYI and any good shop will sell it for less than that, at low retail prices.

You should check out the used market too. I sold my 2003 Specialized SX for 1100 used pretty recently. I would ride it any day over a P.2. It was probably the same weight as a P.2.

JeremyR has a Yeti DJ for sale. I have one and I use it for DJ, 4X, DS and Cruiser at the local BMX. Great feeling bike for many uses and wiht a Yeti you can get one used and the welds should still last.
