i am in the process of trying to decide what frame i should buy. i have been looking at the santa cruz heckler, ellsworth joker and transition dirt bag. i have heard great things about all three. i'm looking for something that is sturdy, being that i weight 250 lbs, does not bob like hell when i try to climb and will suck up all the trails have to throw at me. any suggestions on which one will better fit my size and needs?

Transition DB. Quality and service all the way. It will handle you and the terrain nicely.

Given those options you'd have to be insane not to go with the dirtbag. Great frame and excelent price.

I would probably go with the Preston FR over the Dirtbag for what you want to do with the bike. It is a little lighter and climbs better, but can still handle quite a bit of abuse.

no dirtbag, for a rider at 250 it'll take the hits nicely

get the dirtbag out of those choices for sure. i for also take a look at the preston FR because it can handle alot and can still be used as a trail bike if needed.
i weight 250 and i have a preston and would not be afraid of putting it though its paces.
also transition is probibly the best company i have ever had to deal with. there are only 2 guys that you talk to (own and co owner) and both know everything about every bike they sell. also they ride the bikes they sell (not all companies have this pratice).

also the banshee chap is basically a fancy looking dirtbag that cost twice as much but doesn't give anything more except weight (a bad thing). i use to own a banshee and they are nice bike but transition is even better in my books.

The chap is a great frame. The DirtBag is just as nice, maybe nicer, without the extra cost. I ride with a buddy who has a chap. He went off about a 3-footer on an urban ride and broke his frame. It was insane how it broke - right down at the bottom where the seat tube meets the bb. It was just a warm up drop and we were into the ride for about 50 feet. The night was over right then and there.....
It took a long time for him to get it back from them but they eventually replaced it. Had that been from Transition it would have been in the same week that he got a new frame. I called and asked Kyle and Kevin what to do about a stripped out rocker on my DB. I was going to retap or put a new bolt kit in etc. They sent me a replacement set of rockers for free - just cover shipping. Got them in about 5 business days. Now that is service...
