View Full Version : Pointless thread--Sickest DH jerseys?

I call this pointless as it won't make me faster or more consistent, but atleast I COULD look good while losing!
I really like the Sombrio/Specialized style jerseys where one sleeve is odd. I ride Yeti, so the Specialized is out, and I just wanted to see what other options are out there before droppin the coin on Sombrio's pimp-wear. Just looking for really dope stuff. Fox also has a sweet moto-style jersey called the Gunner, which has wicked tribal lettering and flames. Stuff like that. Let's see em!

Fox jerseys are sweet. Good looks and great quality. Troy Lee also has some pretty good stuff, but the Fox is more my style. I think longsleve looks the best.
Now that I think about it, you should go for the fox straffer shorts with the matching jersey.

gangstamaxx
01-29-2006, 09:21 PM
for major style point, the jersey must always match the shorts... ladies love TLD just a little hint...

edit-check out this page http://www.go-ride.com/prod_armor_tld06.html

I just ordered the GP air jersey in electric blue to match my new shorts...

THRILLSEEKA
01-29-2006, 09:25 PM
I'm with that...
I'm actually more of a jeans and a jersey guy, but I am in the process of spoiling myself with some Fox Panther II moto pants and a matching Fox Gunner Jersey.
I'm going for that Look Fast/Think Fast/Be Fast mentality...

I always feel faster in a real kit. Plus, the chicks love the moto-x look.

The jersey that Greg Minnaar rocks is really sick. And I really like the Maxxis jerseys that Kircaldie wears; I have 2.

A little off topic but has anyone noticed how Minnaar always wears that big Oakley watch while he rides?

I mean absolutely no offence by this, but the local rednecks have managed to drive the entire philosophy of the "No Fear" anthem so far into the quagmire that I would actually be less embarrassed to lead the next Gay Pride parade. I can't walk into any bar within an hour of me and find less than 12 jackasses with mullets, a trucker hat and half finished "no fear" tats on farmer-tanned biceps.
Wow. That was an unexpected vent!
Anyway, I guess that means no "no fear" jerseys around here! But if it's cool there, I would like to visit!

I'll stick with Azonic and TLD jerseys. I haven't seen much of the NoFear stuff here in the NW, and to this day I still say it looks too much like the Voit athletic gear symbol.... No offense intended, it's all a personal preference thing.

Sombrio is cool, but way too expensive. I like the Dakine jerseys, I just bought one and will probably get a SS one for the summer.
Could someone post a pic of that Fox Gunner jersey, I couldn't find it on Fox's website.

I have a short sleeve Azonic jersey I bought off RM years ago, then I have my bright yellow and orange Hebo kit that I love. I did bust a seam on my last ride out on the moto bike, but it's an easy fit.

I would love an RM DH jersey, that would rock.

Im going to put a vote for No fear, The MX division of the company is top notch with some of the best gear out there, the whole of no fear makes some interesting stuff but it should not deter you from the gear

THRILLSEEKA
01-30-2006, 05:57 PM
Well, the No Fear stuff is better than I expected, but not what I'm looking for. I don't WANT them to look like Jerseys. That's why Sombrio's stuff is so sexy, it's like club wear or something....that you rub in the dirt.
Oakley stuff is pretty cool, but I wear only Dragon Optical gear, so that would be confusing.
I haven't checked out Dakine, they have SWEET stuff. Will go there...
And then there's always Fox and the SOOO spendy TLD. If I could afford TLD, I would just buy Sombrio's Pimp-wear.

BTW...anyone need a size 32 VERY SWEET Oakley Bulldose DH short? Ruby and black, new with tags! Make an offer...

No, I understand.
I had the exact same opinion of them as you do now.
Then, I started noticing at Supercross races, how much their stuff stood out, and how good it looked on the track.
I still hate the name, growing up in South Carolina, I used to think that you got a free No fear t-shirt, and a sticker for your mini truck everytime the local BudgetCutz trimmed your mullet.
But their moto division makes some really cool and different stuff, and the company is cool to deal with.

I really am tired of all these moto inspired styles. Sombrio is one of the few clothing companies that has functional gear that your non-mtbing friends won't laugh their arses off if they see you in it off the bike.

I think that there is a big whole in the market right now for DH/Freeride clothing that is cool.....not all this loud, rainbowed, flourescent in your face moto crap.

Does anyone make a ripstop jersey? I always wreck and tear chunks out of jerseys/shorts/pants and then they disintegrate. Any ripstop stuff out there? Does that even exist?

OK..finally bit on the thread title. It sounds like you don't dig moto flash. If you want low profile, about the lowest profile stuff from http://www.nofearmx.com is gonna be the Attack and Combat lines. If you like low profile, aggro the Combat colors are understated. Both the Attack and Combat have pants that zip off into shorts and have pockets. Haven't seen any other moto/freestyle pant even offer that option(great for rides in the mud/cold/etc). And they're baggy to fit pads, etc.
Here are a couple pics:

Yeah, dude, I think Rockgardn has a series of Jersey's specifically for that purpose.
DropNZone sent me my Rockgardn jersey with my name on the back and "DNZ" on the front and tail in flames. Pretty sweet, really, but still not sexay...

As for the ripstop stuff, isn't that another thing about the Sombrio stuff? Isn't it like "raglan" or something like that? I think you can just cut your sleeves to any length you want and they won't fray. That's really cool...
Who else...? Man, I know I'm missing someone here...

if your looking for a jersey that looks like that sombrio jersey, why not buy that sombrio jersey? I'm in the same boat, no longer race and don't ride a motorcycle, so I would like an understated "bike" jersey, I'm leaning twoards Dikine.

Sombrio is only CLOSE to what I want.
Without slitting my own throat, I am going to let the cat peak out of the bag for a minute...
During the duration of this thread, incessant searching and research, and the general LACK of anything similar, I have started my own company. I am waiting for my name to register, a website, and 2 patents. I'm nearly done with 4 prototypes which will soon undergo vigorous "testing" by the best ground rubbers I know, which, unfortuntely, includes myself! There are several features which have, to date, never been done and after you see them, you will wonder why!
Mention: This is not a bike-only co, this is any sport that requires specialty clothing. My main emphasis is on cycling and rockclimbing, but the waterworks boys are included as are many, many others. Actually, motocross really isn't as they have a plentiful supply of gear access and even more companies ready to pick up the ball for them. Great if they want what I have, but anything I make will have to be new ground, no repeats. At least one product line will be very attractive. Thin "Von Dutch" meets the active world...(Von Dirt???), but style, at least in the case, will NOT exclude funtion. Infact, this will be just the opposite. Please stay tuned. I won't spam myself, but I REALLY hope to appeal to all needs with this venture.
And please know that I didn't start this thread with this intention, this all came about within the last week or two. I was actually hoping to just find a place to BUY what I needed, but it doesn't exist!

ok not DH jersey but....

Check it out folks!

Finnally after a long long wait the new jerseys I designed for Valley Stove and Cycle came in - I think they came out great!

I did illustration and layout for them, this was my first time design'n for this type of project, was great fun! we lost some depth in the water (my waves did not get printed) when they were printed but over all they came out wonderfull.

Troy lee stuff isn't expensive if you shop around and are willing to wear the 05 gear. I got two pairs of gp pants for 25 bucks a piece... Shop through moto places and not mtb..
