OK, since I have never set up a crankset with only one ring, I have some questions. I'm looking for a new crankset, I will probably go with the Diablos W/Diablos BB, and an e.13. Do I need any special type of spider or anything, or do you just not put anything where the Granny ring would go? Thanks!

If you're really core, you'd grind off the granny nubs to forever quash the urge to put a granny on there ever again.

But otherwise just ignore it.

yes...the bash guard goes instead of the big ring, your chain ring in the middle and the chain device set in between the frame and outboard bearings of the cranks.

correct....the granny nubs can sometimes be an issue with the E13. Grind them down and you may be able to achive a better chain line...

well the diabolous cranks are cool in that they require long chainring bolts because instead of permanent granny tabs that stick out, the threads for the granny ring are closer into the spider and you use a spacer to get the ring where it needs to be. no grinding required.

Hmm.... looking at the QBP catalog, it appears E.13 only makes one 5 bolt guide that is 110?

So i'd have to get a new BB, Crankset, E.13, and Chainring..... Thats a lot of $$$$!!

But lets pretend I'm gonna spend a lot of money here. If I were to get RaceFace Diabolus X-Type Crankset 4 Bolt 104, an E13 GRing 38 x 104 BCD, the Race Face Diabolus X-Type BB cups, and an E-13 SRS Chainguide 104mm 4-arm 40t max, I'd be in business, right?

and have a pretty kick ass drivetrain too!

Would it really be that benificial to buy an E.13 chainring over a much cheaper one?

right, no more 5x94

Crankset comes with the b.b.(no need to order a second), the inner granny tabs are removable via chainring bolts, like said above no need to grind...

Yup you would be in business w/ all that listed.

I would recommend the e13 ring, it's designed to work with the guide/guides in general, it has a lip/step that works great with their guide/supercharger. If you are gonna do it all my as well do it.

edit: In general I find the e13 ring to be really nice, seems to wear really well...

It doesnt come with it if you order Crank arms only.... does it?

Its cheaper to buy the arms and a BB than it is a whole crankset, I guess because of the chainrings.

you mentioned QBP, if you check it out the crank arms "only" come w/ b.b...... they were also out of stock on the black...

if you order direct from raceface, I honestly don't remember...

Yes the BB is included. The 'crank arms only' just does not have any rings or bash guard.

BTW...great set up. I have the same on my DHR.

one more thing, if you are assosciated w/ a shop (you must be if you have access to qbp) you can call race face and order directly from them no hastle.

Oh, I was under the impression that the BB didn't come with it! Thats great! Saves me some cash :)

I think i'll probably go for this setup :thumb:

E13 is an awesome setup.... Done a couple and only once had trouble with the inner tabs. Only concern you might have is your ring... some cranks that were tripple ready were just a little different in size for the Middle ring. I had this issue with my Race face crank. No i have a friend who used a grinder on his chainring, As for myself, Well i am a little more professional than freehand grinding.... that and i have access to a lathe. E13 Makes a ring for this Application and so does Raceface

I don't really understand what you are trying to say here..... Don't get the E.13 ring?

Hey Mike, Those cranks have a little cap on the drive side that is used to extract the crank arm. don't leave that in there and go ride. You will loose that little bugger sure as sh*t .take it from me, mine is M.I.A.,put it in your tool box .they are great cranks, I have an E.13 on mine ,works great. Oh and make sure the crank arm bolt is totaly bottomed out when you instal them, take the spacers off of the non drive side if need be to make that happen.Later dude

No i am saying Do get the e13 ring. i am running An azonic. i had to lathe the inside of it some to fit on my race face cranks... The e13 and raceface 38 tooth rings are already made to fit these without mods
