I don't think this demonstrates how dumb religion is, so much as it demonstrates how dumb PEOPLE are.

Not sure about the correlation between celibacy and homosexuality and molesting kids. Are you saying that celibacy causes homo-ness or paedophilia? Nah... I don't think you are saying that. Though you really don't hear about other clergymen molesting boys too often.

Maybe if the catholic church started practicing christianity they would attract more/better people. Which would allow them to be more selective when choosing semenary students and later, priests.

I wonder if these child molesting priests would still be molesting had they gone into another line of work? I also wonder how many men use the priesthood to run and hide from their own feelings. I have heard that the semenary high schools and colleges are overrun with gay men and teens. I don't know that for sure because I never went to one. I did look into a semenary high school when I was 14. I didn't like it... got creepy vibes and I just didn't like the idea of an all boys school. Looking back I am very glad I didn't go. But my point is that I am wondering if these teen boys are going into the priesthood as a way of running from their sexuality.

Personally I do not trust the catholic church. And I am a christian.
