View Full Version : Plattekill Race #6
Twas a good race, a little muddy.
So who has pictures? I saw a few flashes in practice and on my race run. Really could have used a set of non big ass tires, might as well have raced on hookworms.
:nopity: To all you pvssys who didnt show up on saturday. *Cough* McgrP01 *Cough* :D

I beat you by like 2 seconds. Wow, I lost like 20 seconds because of that stupid section in the woods where you have to make it between 2 tight trees, (high line is the only doable one) and i washed out and fell, then tried to run up and fell, then ran through the broken tape, and then since theres a huge rock and big rut next to it I had to pick up my rear end and reposition it, then hop on... Wow, good run otherwise, i really pinned it in the lower section (4:52, 8th in Jr X.)
Yes, i got stuck there as well. Dont know about loosing 20 seconds, but stupid skate shoes dont work well in mud. I gotta see where you guys hide your rocket boosters. :D
Well, at least my tire didnt come off like KondaHuckers.

Haha, yeah, that was great timing for my chain to fall off, right in the gate. :mumble:
What time did you get? I got 10th out of not too many more Jr X racers. :D Pulled in a 4:54 or somthing like that.

I'm not sure, I think I ended up somewhere in the 5:30's. I went down in that tight tree section as well and then bounced off a tree near the bottom ripping my jersey to shreds. Can't wait for Nov.!! :D

Honestly - no. I just read the thread. Note the smiley, captain serious.
I think loco should leave the Lounge, come to the DH forum, and pull the crap he pulls in the Lounge. See how long he lasts.

Plattekill was a blast. I was there for both days and finished second (to last)in my expert class. Had the same off-camber tree issue as others as well as a few other excursions. Post-race riding was awesome. Ended up with like 12 people and hit some of the funnest trails that I have ever ridden.

I just have to say platty was a blast! Freeriding after my run was the most fun i've had in a long time. I was going fast without feeling scared, and was taking sketchy lines with confidence. (And wasnt doing any pedalling thanks to Mickey :thumb: )

There was plenty of traction all weekend.
I managed to run a 4:15, but I was looking for a 4:00. Tactially I pedaled to hard up top and was blown for the long, flat pedal in the middle.

WTF??? Where are the freakin' results!?!?

What tires were you running? I found that on the bottom section, if i started to pedal at all, my rear wheel would start to go down the hill really fast. A smaller XC type tire probably would have been better.

I had a 2.7 Highroller front and a 2.5 Mobster in back. I had no traction issues on Saturday but had a few issues on Sunday. A mud tire in front would have helped but I thought that the Mobster worked well in back. But it wasn't anything that slightly better riding wouldn't have taken care of. I'm glad that I replaced my worn Intense's on Friday morning!

hmmmm welll what can i say. i have got to learn i cant go as fast in the mud as i can in dryer conditons. that made me crash a good couple times. then my ****ing valve stem broke off the tube. i debated stopping but i figured i should try to finish decent. riding a front flat is wicked hard. ended 6th in the jrx with like 4:37. now i gotta make it up next race if i want to have a chance at the series title.

hey did they have the right lift open? i can only imagine how sweet that mountain would be if both lifts were running. The right side is rockier with more drops, but the left is all that twisty, rooty, super steep singletrack. So much gnar in just one place.
