ok, I'm buying a new bashguard for my bike and I'm kinda confused about all the options. I know about the tooth size and the 4 or 5 bolt pattern, but whats the 104 vs 110 mm thing? will either work or do i have to measure something?

104 is the measurement for your standard 4 bolt pattern and 110 is the measurement for most mountain bike 5 bolt patterns. I am about 95% sure on this reply, but we'll know soon enough with all the Monkeys around so full of insight.

pangeist has it right on. The only reason the measurement really matters is because there is both a 5-bolt regular (110mm), and a 5-bolt compact (94mm if I remember correctly).

If you have 4-bolt, it's 4-bolt so you're good :)

also, can you mix bashguard/cranks as far as companies go? I am thinking about putting an e.thirteen on my truvativ blaze cranks and I wanted to make sure they were compatable.

as long as the bolt pattern is the same. however sometimes there are clearance issues with the bashguard and crankarm, but usually very mimimal, just a tiny bit of filing
