avatar trouble.

I'm having trouble linking to a url file for an avatar. The file as I have it listed is only 6.7 kb, but I always get an error message. I've tried both the 100x100 pixel version, and the 80x80 with no luck.
ideas anyone?

convert it to a gif. indexed color, web palette (216 colors) and it should be plenty small. oh yeah, try 75x75 pixels.
