Is there a setting that always opens a window in column view? I thought I saw it a one point, but cannot find it...

finder -> preferences -> general -> open new windows in column view

Convert?! Just lazy these days, and since OSX, I haven't been on top of every little thang. My first Mac was a 512K back in 86/87 and I haven't been unhappy since.

The column window view doesn't seem to work with my external drives though...

Yay Mac people are here!

I have a Dual 867 G4 powermac and a 500mhz powerbook G4. Love them both for video, photo, and music editing.

Both my brother and his roommate work for Apple. I just got into them in the last 3 years. I was straigh up PC for 8 years before that.
