Figured I would start off this thread early since it's my intention to hoof it up (well, I guess technically it's "over" from Baltimore not really "up") to The Shed to ride this coming Sunday.

If you're interested in meeting up there let me know. I'd like to arrange some shuttling if possible, with the standard assortment of riding, hanging out, raiding each other's coolers, and watching me fall. ;)

Give a shout here if you're interested.

me and my friend steve will be up there like the middle of the day though. but we dont have a car so we will probly be hanging on the drop trails most the time.

I'm thinking 10am btw. Last time I think I rode until about 2:30-3:00 and all was good.

Where do you all usually ride/meet? I've only been to the drop and "jump" (parked by the tower) trails

I'm not exactly sure what the current etiquette is online for exact descriptions of where the trails are so I'll keep this post to where people park/meet. There's a lot of trails according to the people I've spoken to, but I've only messed around on about 6 of them.

BTW... If any of you out there in Internetland are going to ride The Shed do everyone a favor and collect your trash. I saw some McDick's bags on the ground at a few shuttle points.

Lol at parking by the tower there was about 20 USED condoms, the shed is a hot spot for gettin down n dirty in more ways than one.

Hah! No kidding?

Probably that new "dogging" craze that started over in England/UK where people hook up over the net and arrange parking lot orgies in wooded areas. That's definitely pretty nasty as I imagine it's more fat middleaged weirdos than hot busty porn starlettes.

Someone should just bring a 55 gallon oil drum with the top cut off and set it up there as a trashcan.

Or it could be the RT. 70 reststop overflow joint (lol) I've heard stories of run in's and other findings of that sort :-x

Last year in the fall I beleive a bunch of people got together and collected trash and junk..most is from dumb kids or the 'necks up there, most people that ride know how to not trash the place as ithe shed is a privilege not a right.

Hey fellas let me fill ya'll in on the current etiquette on The Shed. DO NOT post ANY directions to the trails! Esp. since hunting season is just a couple of months away. The best way for mountian bikers to get shut out of the Shed is to start showing up in droves again, and pissing off the good ole boys that pretty much have the clout up here. Not to mention the fact that the "upper shuttle" parking lot that was mentioned is owned by Verzion. They get angry if there are cars blocking their gate! My advice is to do some research, look at the former posts about stunts being torn down and trails sabotaged. Use the same respect for the Shed that you would use for a unknown DJ spot in NoVa. Respect the spot, and the locals......call it my own form of Da Hui Localism, but I don't think the 26X2.35-2.7 tube I picked up the other day was left by some kids..........

Yea I believe a lot of people know not to give out direction directly on the website. If people want them, we just PM to each other. But thats a lot to be putting out in on your first post my young grasshopper.

Nobody's posting directions..idk where you get that from. As for the gate nobody that i've ever ridden has been dumb enough to park in front the gate, we don't even park in that area at all! I know all about the shed's who's who and what's what. I'm staying on topic from here on out.

Do I need my full face for the shed? elbow pads? I probably wouldn't do anything real big. I've been off the bike for a while. There's a good chance I'll show up though...

I would take them if I were you. Put them in your car, make a run and if you feel comfortable to try more stuff, then throw them on.

In the group of 9 people I rode with two weekends ago I think only one of them was NOT wearing a full facer and shin pads. I can't remember who all was wearing elbows or body armor, maybe a couple?

I wasn't wearing a full facer, but that's because I don't have one. And that's because I ride a hardtail and usually take it fairly easy, though I've been giving thought to buying one if I see one on sale soon.

With deer hunting season coming up I would advise riding with novelty antlers, camoflauge, and poofy white tails. Hehe.

In all honesty, I'll definitely be riding with my blaze orange day pack once the hunting season starts.

Ok so what's the story on who's coming from this forum? Depending on who responds I guess the time I get up there will vary, but I would like to get on the trails by 11am at the latest (usually takes me 30 mins to unload, chit chat, unload bike, etc).

Actually I'd like to check out 495 too but Seven Courts dirt jumps are 2 mins from my house.

What a strange place this is.

Anyhow, was nice and dry today, just like the other two times I've been there. Did it rain in Frederick lately? If so, man it drains well and you could have fooled me about the rain.

Hey stechy, did I see ya up at the Shed this past Sunday up by the Verizon gate?

There were a bunch of people but only a couple said hi or introduced themselves which is why I ask.

If I dont have practice on Saturday, I might be up for a Shed ride. I can't do Sunday, but Saturday might work if anyone would wanna meet up. How bout it HotButterToppin.

I was thinking more along the lines of....oh....Sunday. The thing with Saturday is that I'm mostly sure that Sunday is the usual meet-n-shuttle day for most people. I'll post a new thread and we can work it out for Saturday or Sunday. I'll PM/call some people and see when they're most availabe. It's always more fun to ride with a group.

Either day is fine with me really, I just have to refrain from going out drinking the night before (lest I puke on some unsuspecting shrubbery a la last Sunday).

Yea well HBT, if we went on Saturday it would most likely be in the afternoon like 1. I am not sure if I even have practice or not. I mean you can still go both days. But I just have to work Sunday and I want to hit the shed. So Saturday is when I can do it and I was just ganna see if anyone else would be up for that. Ill keep you posted on whether or not I can go.
