The best part: Take a very close look at the design on (Karl's?) computer. Totally new design. The current design has a standard spider on the driveside crank and uses a chain as primary drive. The new version looks to be all gear driven, no spider.
Very interesting.
More at the open house or interbike I hope.

Hrm.
Based on that little fabrication time lapse, it appears the G-Boxx is still just a rolhoff?
I thought it was all new?

Yup...just a rohloff hub. I always thought the frame itself was going to house the rohloff's internals. I guess it's the frame housing the 'entire' hub.
Although, it's like rohloff made a specific casing for the hub. There are no hub flanges and of course the chainring is on the opposite side.

Due to the design of the Rohloff there is no way to remove the hub casing G-BOXX, at least in the form that I left it, relies on a Rohloff hub. There has to be a somewhat redundant case.
For the hub, I machined custom casings for them designed to work specifically with the G-BOXX layout.
I dont see anything that relates to a gear drive in the video, but who knows. The 2013i was however, a full primary gear drive.

So here's the part that got me going. Look at this pic. The is no big housing above the bb for the rolhoff, instead the big part is right around the bb axle. No spider on the cranks. Lower c of g, lighter (hopefully), cleaner, better? Hope it becomes real.

I don't know...I think in the clip the dude was rotating the image around on his screen so I think the pic you posted is the g-boxx backwards. During the clip, if you look at the frames they're making, there's still a housing for the Rohloff hub.
Unless they came out with something totally new and out there, they still need to run 2 chains: one from the crankset (that housing you're referring to just conceals the short piece of chain and ring) and one chain from the gear hub to the rear hub. That housing at the bottom bracket area looks big because you can't drive a frame mounted Rohloff hub with a chainring smaller than 32-34 teeth...otherwise there would be too much torque or pressure on the hub.
I might be TOTALLY wrong here...so dw or someone else can let me know. ;)

the 3d pic is not the current version. thats for certain, so it might point to a new version in the future.

There's one on Ebay for $6,000. That's a high price for a frame.
