Ridemonkey is Under New Management! [Archive]

Well, it's a done deal. Ridemonkey was purchased this week by Adam Thody, who some of you may know as Gecko (now under the Ridemonkey username).

What does this mean to you? Probably not a whole lot for the moment. You will start to see minor changes here and there over the next few weeks, and down the road you'll see some great new features.

A few things to look forward to:

Stickers
New Design
Free beer on Tuesdays (not really - suckers!)

If you have any questions about the change of ownership, and how it affects the site, please keep them in this thread, or PM me.

After a major color scheme change in August, a mass exodus has occured from the popular mountain bike enthusiast message board web site Ridemonkey. The color scheme change followed a change in ownership.

The site admin could not be reached for comment.

Well, I had the inside track, and it does require a great deal of technical knowledge...hardly a turnkey business, so you shouldn't feel too bad about it.

uhhhh wow this is kinda strange really. i reeeeeallllllllly hope that the site gets as cool as pink bike now that it is canadian. i will go ahead and go back and edit all my posts by adding 4 feet to the height of any drop i refer to just to be on the safe side.

Congrats on the deal, I hope you stay with the flavor of RM for years to come, since I first logged on last October I have continuely noticed a decrease on time spent on other boards, I feel like RM is home , its not so huge that you never recognize the posters nor is it so small where it takes a week to fill a page with posts.

Used to stop at the "store on the right" just past customs prior to visiting various drinking establishments. I have no idea what it's real name was. :think:

Pop-ups even if we are logged in? So unless you pay to be a premium member you have to deal with that crap? Maybe this isn't new but it just recently started happening to me. Just annoying enough to make me hit up RM fewer times in the day.

Congrats on the ownership.

Just gotta say I really hope although you are excited about making some future changes and improvements, it stays somewhat the same. Ton's of fancy new additions to the site are nice and all but keep in mind who your audience is. Yes some of us are tech guys but Blogs, extra add-ons to features... nice and all but necessary?

I'd rather see time spent on posting things like industry news, product reviews, some of the stuff that did happen a while back for a short time. Get a crew/staff together to do some testing of new products, the site is big enough that it has to be recognizeable to most industry contacts if not all... see what they can do to help out.

When I went to Victoria in June, I didn't get to drink any good canadian beer. Just some crap they claim was beer, and I have no recollection of what I drank while I was there. That was my second time to Canada. The first couple times was to Toronto, but Toronto isn't canadian, it's like a mixed breed. You might as well still be in the US when u go to Toronoto. Actually I guess you can consider it the Canadian variety of up state New York. lol
But yeah, I can't wait to go back to Victoria cause that place was cool, too bad my bike broke at the begining of my ride. I didn't get to experience any of the North shore ridin' up there. I'm gonna go to Whistler next summer, I can't wait for that! Well I'm just blabberin away, so i'll stop. :)
