I am trying service the bearings on my XC hub. Are the end pieces just pressed on?
If so, what is a safe way to remove them?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rubber covered pliers worked for me. Drift punch to remove bearings.

Okay, so I got the end caps off.
I also have the freehub removed.
Now I am trying to use a rubber mallet (on the axel) to remove the LH (outer) bearing. But it is NOT budging. I don't want to damage anything.
Do I need a puller or more patience with the mallet?:help:

Do I need a puller
Duh, a puller is not an option with the axel in the way .
I use a rubber mallet and a board with a hole in it. I hate beating them out though. A press would be better.

I have removed the rubber seal on the freehub side.
Would it be too risky to apply a little heat to the hub?

Now I am trying to use a rubber mallet .....
That's my problem. When I used an impact mallet, the bearing popped right out. The rubber mallet never gave much of an impact.
Problem solved. :)
