I have a pair of 04 Dorado MRD X-Works that are only about a month old. They have been leaking oil since new. After a few runs it gets a nice big oil ring and starts running down the stanchions. I have herd that Dorado’s leak a little oil to help with lubrication, but this is getting a little excessive! I have tried tightening the spring on the seals a little but it hasn’t seemed to help. Is it possible to obtain better seals for them to stop them leaking or at least not as much?
Thanks guys.

I think that the "evil genius" seals that come on new dorados help with this. Call manitou up and ask them.

The problem lies in the fact that Manitou uses a dust wiper as an oil seal. If you look at a Marzocchi for example, they use a seperate and true oil seal and dust wiper. I solved my x-works leakage by finding an industrial seal co. here in seattle and buying a real oil seal to replace the foam ring under the wiper that is on the fork. Worked for the time that i had the fork.
BTW you already have 'evil genius' seals

No kidding...that's weird. EVERY company uses the main seal/wiper seal system.
