im sure some of you out there will remember a contraversial NEA funded project called Piss Christ....
what do you think would be the odds of getting funded a Piss Allah with a Koran submerged in a jar of urine?...
Clearly i know the answer to this...it would be decried, villified, called out as a hate crime...why is that. why is it alright to villify christian symbols but not sommething like this?....
please discuss

it got funded in the first place and that i seriously doubt such a thing would happen for the koran...look at the stink that is being made about allegations of mishandling in guitmo (sp?)...
my point was that is common place to regulary defile symbols of christianity but the world is going to end if something happens to the precious koran

If you can make something as hauntingly beautiful as Piss Christ, go for it.
That's pretty cool looking...

If we're going to publically fund descrating religious symbols lets excersize our right to diversity and make sure the whole spectrum of religious symbols are desecrated in the name of equal opportunity.

Interrogation vs. Art.
Big difference.
Free speech is just that - free.
As for your speculation about funding for something defiling the Koran - well, it's just that - speculation.

If I remember, the outrage over NEA funding was a result of works by Serrano and Maplethorpe using NEA grants for "offensive" art. Piss Christ wasn't specifically approved for funding, rather the artist was and used his grant to produce that work.

Do you think I could get cash to burn churches complete with congregations as a form of artistic expression?
(I'm just joking you crazy religious freaks)

congealing? you mean coagulating? :D
and yes, i see blood/piss a lot, but usually not in a jar together ;)
i see blood/vomit together a lot more than blood/piss.....most people don't realize that you have a good chance of vomiting just after you shoot yourself in the head....makes for an interesting scene

I guess you didn't sense my sarcasm..................
If I was on a desert island and only had the Torah and the Bible and "had" to pee on either the Bible or the Torah, I'd pee on the Bible.

While we're at it, dont forget about the Israelis.
As a Christian I have to express my anger for that. But as an infantry soldier I cant really do anything about it because of that thing... You know its in that thing signed by those dudes back in the 1700's... Oh yeah, the bill of rights.
While we're on the subject there moderator, lets talk about freespeech in here...
Why is it we can post a pic of a crucifix in blood and urine, but we cant post a pic of an insurgent shot in the head?

So that makes it right? What's 'right' anyway? It's subjective depending on where you're standing.
Seriously, in this case, it's RM's site. He can do what he wants. In general, for a public audience, No. People should be exposed to this ****. It's the reality of the situation.
From a personal point of view, if my boss looked over my shoulder and saw me looking at pictures of some dude's head plastered over the pavement, she might ask some questions. Piss christ didn't even raise an eyebrow when I was reading it on Wikipedia. :) I love my job.

Another point could be that due to the graphic nature of this content, it cold be censored on the grounds that it degrades my freedom to worship.
