i'm giving you the pre-emptive silver/changleen/valvebouncer response and i'm playing devils advocate here: (i am not necessarily against the war)

would there have been any beheadings if we weren't there in the first place?

I care.

About due process.
About human rights.
About doing the right thing.

“But war, in a good cause, is not the greatest evil which a nation can suffer. War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice – a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice – is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.” John Stuart Mill (1806-1873)

the stuff in bold is most important in my opinion. If you argument against the war is, and many of you hold this opinion, that Bush lied....get over it. He is not the first nor the last President to make that error. In fact I bet if you took a closer look every president we have ever had has lied to the american people at least once. Fact is I thought the WMD's were a pretty weak excuse to go after Saddam, how about the fact that he had been thumbing his nose at the UN and the world at large since the first gulf war. Or the atrocities and genocide that he masterminded. You peace freaks really need to evaluate you souls, and decide whether or not there is anything for which you are willing to fight. Once you come to that conclusion of what ever that is, you must ask yourself if you would rather first lose it and then fight for it or fight for it so that you may keep it.

this administration uses cute little names like Clean Air Act when they roll back environmental protection on clean air, and Healthy Forrest Innitiative when they promote clear-cut logging of old growth forrests. Just b/c some military junket claims someone is a terrorist in closed hearings or just holds them indefinitely without ever even giving them a hearing to determine their status does NOT make them a terrorist. They probably are, but this administration has ZERO credibility when they say "trust us".

Here we go, a man that understands. Exactly, if you frothers think they are guilty, put them on show in a properly constituded court of law and take your chances. The rule of law, completely, absolutely without fear or favour. Do it.
