Bought a romic a couple weeks ago, need some hardwearfor it. I called romic 3 times , the sec told me they would call me back. Still waiting. I've got one on my Fly that I had serviced last year, pretty good service. This year they seem to be slipping. :help:

Use hardware from fox.
The du bushings and reducers are the same.

Yeah, I think Roger is out of town right now. It's a pretty small company, so it may be hard to get things down until next week...

I'd rather try to contact a 4 person company who's obviously busy with race season than try to find a standardized part from a local bike shop.

Well, you see, with Romic you need atleast 2, to make it through 1 riding season. I know peolpe who have complained that the adjustments don't work (and that's straight out the box), they blow easily, and thier parts wear prematurely.
You shoulda gotta Curnutt on that Fly, their the tits! :thumb: I have never had mine serviced, and it's still silky smooth.

The romic is for a craftworks 125 I'm putting together. The one on my Fly works great, no problems since.5th elements are the bomb, I've got the one on my free tuned just right and it rocks. But back to romic , at least be honestand tell me ,don't leave me hanging. I can wait

good call Lovebunny...it's the middle of race season and Roger is off offering support to his riders. Be patient and Romic will get back to you as soon as possible....read a book or something :)....D

When you turn the adjusters you feel NO difference at all? Then there's obviously something wrong. I had that happen to me on one of my Romic shocks, the compression still worked but the rebound wasn't there. My other Romic shock started leaking.
BUT, when they worked, they worked well! :)
It's almost like the shock teases you...you feel happy with it and the bike flies over anything and then...bang! Problems.

It seems to be a sport around here to trash Avy's CS. It only takes me 3+ calls to get beyond Romic's receptionist and actually talk to a technician, because they never seem to return your call .
Meanwhile, I can call Avy and spend 30 minutes talking to the top guy, and that was before I spent a red cent on his products. :D.

Well that just makes perfect since, why wouldn't he want to make a fast sale on an inferior product.

how much have you ridden a romic? what makes them inferior to other shocks? for people who arent into the whole platform damping thing romics are wonderful. ill say it again. i love my romic(s)

how much have you ridden a romic?
I have had one on my trail bike for about two years now. It worked great, for about 6 weeks, until one of the damping knobs sprung a leak. Yes, the fixed it under warranty, but there was down time, not to mention that it happened in the middle of a trip. Since then it has worked well, but again, it is a trail bike.
Also, I have/had one on my DH bike. I got the bike in October of last year and proceeded to blow up the Romic 3 times in 5 months before they finally realized that there was some internal mfg defect. Again, down time getting it fixed, as well as disappointment during my outtings (Funny, they never seemed to die while sitting in the garage ). Oh yeah, once after one of the repairs, coming off a 5' drop, the shock compressed, and stayed that way. A lot of fun that was. :)
Other than that, I have no experience whatsoever with Romics.

well if you take into consideration that Romic sells about 10 times what Avalanche sells....maybe you would understand why you can't always get Roger on a moments notice. How many bikes do you see coming stock with Avalache vs. Romic....it's really quite logical if you just think about it...D

I never said I wanted to talk to Roger. Just someone (anyone) in Customer Service/Support. I don't mind leaving my number and getting a call back from them in a day or two. It is just that they don't seem to know how to return phone calls. Again, it may be just that they are way TOO busy.
If it is because of the OVERWHELMING quantity of business, then they have a staffing problem. :nono:
Keep in mind, I am not attacking Romic. When it is working, I love mine on my trail bike (but not on my DH bike). :p

This thread is great. Someone wants to get a bike working and Romic won't return his calls. Now people are jumping in a saying "hey it's the bike industry just relax", "Don't talk bad about Roger he's good people and always hooks me up"". You can't make some of this stuff up it's pure comedy. Meanwhile, if any of you were having this problem you'd be pissed. Why can't you just accept the fact that in this situation romic is fuking up. End of story.
I don't care if your at races and what not, you should have someone left in the office to keep things running atleast halfway smooth. It is a business, correct? Not just a guy in a garage who happens to be on vacation?

I just found this thread. We return phone calls every day. We have a small staff so sometimes we dont answer the phone when you call but if you leave your name and # we will get back to you. When i go to the races Brian is here to talk on the phone. If for some reason you cant get to us on the phone use email.
I will be leaving for Idaho on monday but someone will be here to answer the phone.
Thanks

Ive had the same luck with Romic. I called and called, left meassage after meassage and no one ever got back to me. Then about 2 weeks after I gave up someone called me back. Romic has great customer service when you can get ahold of someone. The older secretary lady is NOT too friendly, either

I have a Romic as well...however its rebound is fried ! when working right it was pretty nice, and the one experience I did have with them , they were prompt in reply and sending parts. ( not race season though ). I also used their website to ask them questions if you havn't tried that. Alot of those guys check their mail nightly.

I don't mean to derail this thread but can you guys measure something for me?
-For those that have the 2.75" Romic shocks, can you measure the 'free-length' of the spring when it's completely loose on the shock? (I think they use 3.0 springs on the 2.75 shocks)
-For those that have the 2.5" stroke shocks, can you do the same???
I'm trying to figure out something.
Thanks!!!
