i am switching my old fork to a new manitou stance flow with a 20 mm thru axle is there anything wrong with getting a new hub laced to my old rim to save money?

Noting wrong with it, as long as your rim is in good shape. If there are any dents or cracks, buy a new rim. Then again for the price your going to pay for a hub and wheel build you might be able to find a prebuilt for the same price.

It all depends on who you ask. I dont think there is anything wrong with it. I've done it. In fact, I rode and raced a rebuillt rim all last year. Knine is right though, if there is anything wrong with it, you should just get a new one.

There are those people out there that say its a horrible terrible thing to do and your wheel will explode and the bikign gods will hate you. I dont agree with them

if you don't plan on building the wheel yourself, and if the new hub isn't going to use the same spoke sizes, you're prolly gonna save money by buying a used 20mm front wheel. You'll pay at least 50 for the hub, 12 for the spokes, and 25 for a build... plus, if you buy another front wheel, you can sell your current one to recover some of the loss.
