I'm assuming you want to get 8.2 inches of travel instead of the 7.5 that the comp comes with. You don't need a different linke to do this (the link on the comp and the expert are the same) you need a different shock. If you look at the specs of the two bikes you see they both have the same i2i shock (8.75 if I remember right) but the expert has a 2.75 stroke while the comp has a 2.5...so that's where the difference in travel comes from.

well ive found a 9 inch link would it work? it says i have to buy an avalanche shock for it but i was planning on it anyway in the future. theres 2. if they work, which one would be better?

All the links on the 04 bighits were exactly the same. All you need to do to get the 8.1" of travel that the expert had is to get a new shock that is 8.75x2.75. And no that link wouldnt work. It is made for the 03 bighit comp and the 02 bighits. The newest link which is on the 03 expert, dh and all 04 bighits attaches to the frame at a different spot which is why the new one is alot bigger. So just get a new shock if you want more travel.

get in touch with Craig at Avy and tell him you want the 8.75x2.75. That's what I did and it made the bike insane. It felt just like my buddies V10-Smooth and plush. I called Spec before I ordered the shock from Avy and they said the only reason the Comp had a 2.5 stroke was just to be able to make the travel different between it and the Dh.

Since the Comp and Expert share the same linkage plates, and the only thing that is seperating the travel is the shock is this the same for the 2005 model?? The 2005 model uses a ( 8.75"x2.5" ) shock as does the 2004 Comp. Since it was stated that all you have to do is switch the shock on the Comp to a ( 8.75"x2.75" ) shock will give it the same amount of travel as the Expert. So since the 2005 uses the same shock size as the Comp would I just have to switch to larger stroke shock to get 8" of travel instead of the 7.5" stock travel??
Sorry if this seems really jumbled and confusing, I am not the most clear writer in the world.

Yes the 05 has a 8.75x2.5 and 7.5" of travel. Just get a 8.75x2.75 and you will have 8.25" of travel.
