Saw this Yeti being raced in Angelfire this past weekend...

Anyone know anything about it?

I picked it up and it was a pretty light bike.

So, was the team on 303's?

Why would Yeti have their riders on a bike that is over three years old??? Is the 303 not comming along as expected?? If this was Milan's other bike was he riding the 303. Anybody seen the actual 303 yet, not the one the team is riding??

Check out the right rear drop link.... the mech is actually attached to IT not the lower swingarm. I was told that they did make this link to clean up the shifting and get the mech closer to the cogs, but when I questioned Yeti they said the link never worked properly. :sneaky:

I don't think they have released them, they are still tweaking things.

The factory team is on prototype 303s. They are still tweaking the design under racing conditions. I saw Riffle and Houseman racing them at the US Open and it was very cool watching the rails work.

Hmmmmmm, I could strip the paint off my DH9 and bead blast it for a nice finish, then have Yeti bake in some new stickers. Very cool look. Nah, I'll just wait for the 303.

:stupid: Milans 303 was there, but he broke his collarbone in 4x practice so i never got to see the bike ride. His had a new nifty link on it too.

Yeah Big House has that one his too, The Rich size bike is huge, it looks like a tank.

Yeah, the have added a couple variations of some kind of link. I beleive Milan's and Houseman's are between the seattube and the seatstays. Riffle's is underneath the downtube and bb area. Very cool to see the different iterations at work.

Ciaran

the 01 was the dh-8
the 01.5 was the dh-9 tube (hence 2002)
02.5 was the mono (with exception of yeti sponsored riders) who got theirs in early 02.
Which means that this frame was only made for one year, making it semi-rare? ( I also miss my DH9, but it was way to big for me)

Yeah it is, the Millian.Houseman version is the latest and greatest at the moment.

That bike does belong to the team mechanic, Damion. He raced that bike to a first in the simi pro division. That frame acctually used to belong to Rennie and has been sitting in the Yeti factory for a while. Its good it see its getting used.

thats different then the one in the original post

see the different lenght between the weld and the lower shox bolt and the lenght between the seat tube and the down tube. or they could just be different sizes.

yellow was teh proto large (IIRC). raw is a small.
the production large's had a little more overlap, but definately less then the small.

The tube frame is *relatively* rare. They only made about 100 of each size (versus the standard 300 per run).

*** This is if I am rememebering what Scott told me before he left (2 years ago)*** I could eb grossly off, but the numbers were WAY low.
Dang. I should have kept mine. kinda cool knowing that you have one of maybe 100. She's gone now though, sent over to England.

Hey Stoney, I have a question that you may be able to answer. I got the DH9 and I was putting it together and was trying to thread in the BB cups. I was using an Azonic BB that came with the Azonic cranks. Well, I just couldn't get the cup to thread in for the life of me. It kept cross threading and wouldn't go in. Well, I would never force something like a BB into an alu frame so I was looking at the BB closely and noticed something weird. The threads just didn't look right. So I grabbed the drive side cup/fixed cup and tried to thread it into the non drive side and lo and behold it went right in. Smoothly and easily. I grabbed the non drive side cup and threaded it into the drive side with no issues.
So... was the BB threaded backwards? Or am I a retard? The threads were not stripped at all, no evidence of cross threading. I have since used the BB on two other frames and it installed in the manner I am accustomed to. (Fixed cup on drive side) Any thoughts?

I have a polished DH 9 tube frame, stripping the paint off of a Yeti is a real chore. I was gonna sell it but maybe I'll just keep it around for now, seems like everyone misses them allready.it's awfull perty.

How much do you want for the Yeti? Also what size is the frame?
I have a 2001 DH-8 Team bike but I wouldn't mind upgrading.

So, was the team on 303's?

Ross was the only Yeti Factory Rider there(I think), the others where Yeti/RPM Riders and they aren't on the 303's. Ross had one 303 this weekend and I guess the polished DH-9. The Factory Yeti Team is on 303's (Houseman, Graves, Riffle) but I didn't see any of those guys this weekend.

I understand there's not many 303's as there are still testing this year.

You might have gotten a friday bike. Sux. :mumble:
The weird thing is that I was obviously not the first or even secon owner. I am surprised no one ever sent the frame to Yeti. By the time I got it I figured that the warranty was waaay expired. I let the guy I sold it to know, though. He said he was going to re-thread it.

did your bb fit in properly (minus the reverse threads or did you use and Italian BB?
The BB did fit in just fine aside from the reverse threads. And it has since fit into two other frames just fine. Weird I tells ya!

The cool thing Damion did with that old DH-9 was get new lower link plates made so the rear der. is acctually in the right spot. The pullies are closer to the cassette, where they should be, while on the stock hanger they sat a little farther away. That solved the shifting issue that the DH-9's have always had.
