freewheel drag

is it normal for there to be a small amount of drag at the freewheel? With the bike in the stand, I can spin the pedals backwards and the wheel slowly starts to turn backwards. With teh bike on the ground, I can't feel any drag, so it's still pretty minimal.

Is this normal, or a sign that the hub should be serviced? FWIW... it's a DT Swiss Onyx hub, just over a year old... been ridden pretty hard.

If your in the 11 or 12 tooth gear on your cassette I wouldn't worry about it. If in a larger gear there could be a problem. If you hold the pedal still while freewheeling and the top of the chain does not go slack, I would not worry.

Thanks... I was in th 11thooth gear... and the drag is very slight. I'll check the chain thing just to be sure.
