Hey im just wonderin what everyone's favorite tech/mechanics book is. im looking for somethin that will teach me how to work on disk breaks and tuning the shifting and stuff like that. then just basics like taking apart the bike in general and tweaking the cranks and stuff. thanks. Pretty much just an up to date all around mountain bike mechanics book.

Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance. Best money you'll spend in your biking career. Amazon.com it stocked here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1884737994/qid=1117710813/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/002-1788294-1780065?v=glance&s=books&n=507846).

Seriously, it's the most valuable $20 you'll ever spend.

Both Zinn and Barnett's are great resources. Do a Google for "Barnett's manual" and you can find most of the chapters from the manual, v4 and some of the chapters from manual v5.
