Not sure if this is a big problem but I am just curious. Anyone who owns a Prophet or is bike savvy can chime in. Just curious about the placement of my swing arm. I have ridden the bike a couple of times like this, but was just wondering because the ones in our shop dont look like this. Is there something wrong with my swingarm/bike? The swingarm seems to be cocked to the left and rubbing against the right side of the seat tube. Here are some pictures.
This is where there is no space.

Sorry about the blurry pictures, best I could do. Anything would be helpful.

I have never been around any kind of Prophet much, but I can tell you that if those two tubes are rubbing, something is definitely wrong. Either the pivot is misaligned, some tube or pivot is bent, or the frame was welded crooked. Take it back to the place you bought it (you bought it new, right? It looks shiny...), and show it to them.

I work at a bike shop, the same place I bought it from and my mechanics arent sure. So I email Cannondale too. I was just seeing if any Monkey's have had the same problem.

when using the camera make sure that it focuses on what you want it to focus on. usually there's a green or red square that indicates where the camera will focus: point that at the interesting bit (swingarm) instead of letting it aim at the ground.

if it didn't want to focus then you might have been too close for it. step back and use the zoom instead, or turn on macro mode if your camera has it (should be a flower looking icon). also, please resize your pics :D . i suggest irfanview (www.irfanview.com) if you're on a windows machine.

O I see, most of them still came out blurry. Its all operator error. But here are a few more pictures that might help.

Send it back..... clean it up as much as possible before you send it in.

I will see what Cannondale says, maybe they can just send me a new frame. I dont know if I could be down a bike for a month. Just not happening.

You just got a bad one...take it back right now before they start saying it might be your fault somehow. In the end, it's just the way it is with welding aluminum. Apparently it's really tough to get it perfect.
Every manufacturer has tolerances to follow, or margin for error when making frames. It looks like yours slipped through the quality control cracks. I remember Trek VRXs being a little crooked and my old 98 K2 Beast was a tad off. When I spoke to K2 back then, they told me it's possible that it could be a little off as long as nothing was rubbing. My 2000 Giant DH Team bike was the same (god I loved that frame!). My 2003 Balfa BB7 was wayyyy off to the point I had to use spacers in the shock mounts to keep the swingarm from eating the paint on the main frame. My 2003 Nicolai Nucleon ST is 99% perfect.
The point is...slight frame misalignment is kind of normal but yours is extreme.

Yea that is what I figured. I am going to get a hold of the Cannondale Rep from our shop and get him to look at it. It always seems that everything I get is defective. Its getting old. I am sure they will get me straight. If they offer me a Prophet 2000 frame, I will snatch that up. I love that green that they have. Its soo nice.
Thanks for the input.

Dude man, for real stop re-viving old threads. And everything is tight, I got a new rear triangle, but that didnt work so they are sending my a new Front Triangle. I think the mounts are off.

Hey rpk1988,
By Chance what year model is your Prophet. A friend of mine is having big issues with his Prophet, which he said he thinks is an '04. He says the bike shop told him the original prophet swingarm is in the way of them being able to set his derailleur properly.
Anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Mines a 2005. 2005 is the first year they made the Prophet. Is there any chance he could get pictures. If he is having similar issues that I had, contact Cannondale. They sent me a new front triangle because the pivot mounts were off. It fixed everything.
Ive never heard of that problem. Maybe see about getting a new swingarm? Pictures would help.

Actually got a PDF back from them for him to give to a shop. Apparently Cannondale has a great detailed chart of how to set up the e-type on the prophet with recommendations for each style of cranks. My guess is the shop he took it to was trying to wing it.
