I'm going to be getting an Azonic Steelhead and need to decide on a fork. It's going to be used mainly for FR/DH.

I have the fork narrowed down to the Pike Race and Z.1 Freeride III. The Pike is more adjustable, but maybe not as strong.

What do you think?

Also, what are your reasons for choosing either?

Speaking for the Marzocchi. You might as well get the HSCV damped model and not bother with the SSV damped model.

If its between those two i'd get the pike. If you can step up to the higher end Z1s definetly the Z1. Depends what the bike is for. If its a dj/street bike get a pike so u can set it at 3" of travel.

^^ LMAO Now your talking!

Jayridesacove, I think you are probably right about the low end Z.1. The upper end one is more than I went to spend. I think I will take my chances with the Pike. I have only seen a few bad things about them.
BTW, I'm at WVU  :eviltongu

Get the Pike. It's top notch, especially in comparison to the Z1 III.

Anyone know how big a tire a Pike can clear? A 2.7" perhaps?

Good choice. The Pike steelhead combo should be perfect for a bike that can do XC, FR, Urban, DH, etc.

The Pike is a super strong and super Stiff fork. The damping is excellent and even more adjustable than higher end forks.

If you run the floddgate full open/loose and close the compression all the way you get a prefectly damped fork. It's cool how you can setup even the slightest platform to prevent fork dive, and to make the fork pop off jumps harder.
