Tire Pressure for Urban

I have a 2001 Norco Torrent which I mostly ride street. The last time I rode it felt very slow. Among my many tweaks, I put 45 psi in each tire (Maxxis Hookworm 2.5).

I was thinking about this, since traction is not an issue, is higher pressures better in the urban environment? I mean high pressures as in 35 psi and higher...

I put about 60psi in my k-rads on my dj/occasional skatepark bike.

definatly want more pressure for riding urban, better rolling efficiantcy and less pinch flats and dented rims. i run 45 in my holy rollers i would run more, but i mostly dj

For urban I run about 60-70psi in my DMR Motos (2.2"s). I used to run 100+ on my bmx (RL Edges 1.7" or whatever they were) back in the day. I drop to about 45-50 for dirt. Having said that I measure pressure by squeezing these days. I used to be way more anal. Real ****in hard for street, middle for dirt, soft for DH etc.

Oh, yeah, the point of the thread - Yes it's better to run high pressure for street as it makes the tyres harder to puncture, pinch flat, and all that other bad stuff. Just be sure your tyre is up to the pressure you're running. I only ever blew out one set of tyres though, and they were ****ty 10 quid slicks from Halfords (think Target) I was running at about 80psi - They were rated at 35-40psi. I wasn't even riding at the time. I'd stopped for food and the ****er just exploded. Made me jump a little bit.
