Showa I didn't see you out there....if you made it I hope you had a good time.

Freeridekid you missed out on some good riding. The dust wasn't bad and the creek was 8 inches lower than last year....:D

Excellent shots. Looking at those makes me realize just how close dh/fr rigs are to some motos.

As far as experience...:D ....there were PW 80's out on the course. It is all ridable. The thing about desert racing is speed is what gets you most of the time....keep the speed respectible and it is a great trail ride.

You ride out at Horn Rapids? Only been there once....raced offroad there and bent the shaft in my '89 Yamaha250WR tranny....:( that ended my day. It was a blast...fast and whooped out. SaddleBack Mtn (near Mattawa and original site of the desert 100) still has some riding land and some sand dunes (Beverly) to ride in. Just be careful you ride on open land and not private land...they checker boarded the land and took away the ability to make 50mile loops (the reason we stopped racing there)

No problem...hopefully Travis (photographer) will get a chance to load up the race photos soon too.Looks like the race shots are up! :D I made it intot he backgroud of a few shots....

On the first page of the RACE gallery I am directly behind the front hub of the green bike as it wheelies up the river bank. ;)

Another has me helping a female(teenager I think) whos KX100 stalled out in the water. I have safety cone orange sleaves on my jersey and a red fleece vest on.

I am hidden in the back ground in a bunch of other photos at the river but those are in the first few pages I think. There are a LOT to go through so I hope you enjoy. :)

Looks like it turned out to be yet another kick butt event man, you guys have always put on one of the best dirt bike events in the state/region, if not the best. Glad to see the numbers were awesome this year also!

Maybe once the whole school thing winds down and I get a place of my own I will finally get a bike of my own;)

Maybe once the whole school thing winds down and I get a place of my own I will finally get a bike of my own;)We had a little less than last year as far as rider attendence. Some factors could be the horendous dust from last year still on riders minds, the Blizzard on the passes that weekend, gas prices(tied into V-8 trucks or motorhomes, etc gets pricey) or the dry winter......

In reality it seemed jsut the right size for handling the masses. It went extremely smooth and no one had to be life flighted to a hospital this year :( last years dust messed a guy up bad (hit a rock at high speed in zero visability)....he smashed his face in, literaly. He was there for this race and plans on coming back next year. He was messed up something fierce. These dirt bike racers are a tough bunch. :thumb:

We were able to handle the crowds and everything went unusually smooth this year. After 35 years of doing this, maybe we are getting it straight. :D :dancing:

Did you ride dirt bikes before? I remember you working at the MX suspension shop I just never asked I guess. :) Have you actually been to a desert 100 event?

When your bike drowns out in the river (sucks a LOT of water) you have to do this...

LOL that is me clapping for the guy as he crashed right in front of me....he shoud have been heading towards the photographer...but he ended up heading towards me on the outside of the corner. :)

Water was deep in a couple spots. :D

I've ridden a few times a while back, I think if I got on a bike today I'd probably kill myself. Never actually been to the Desert 100, but driven through the area when it's all been going on, not to mention done NUMEROUS suspension jobs prior to and after the event. Being that I was in HS at the time, getting to some of the events was rough, been to way more races this side of the mtns.

Looks like I am getting back into the suspension work for a weekend here in a few weeks, helping my uncle teach a suspension class to shop mechanics down in Bellevue. Catered meals and the chance to see if I still got what it takes to work on that stuff like I used to be able to... I am kinda excited. Haha sad when you are proud of how fast you can tear down, rebuild and complete work on a shock...

I'll be there.
Getting wet depends on your seat. Check out the qwestfield.com. Good pics of the stadium should give you an idea of how dry you'll stay, plus they have a cool web cam going so you can watch them build the track.
