Finish Line Stanchion Lube??? Anyone use it?

I was browsing around the net and found this stuff. Just wondering if any :monkey:'s out there have used this stuff and what it does? Seems like a decent idea to lube them up (sort of a pre-lube) deal. I dunno, seemed interesting....

I found it on a suspension page but found it's price and such on REI

Iv never heard of a designated lube for stanchions like that, but, I do uses Finish Line Wet lube around my wiper seals. Just pull the seal away from the stanchion and drip lube all over...it gets kinds messy, but virtually eliminates any stiction. Lasts a few runs or so. works well, but attracts dirt like crazy. worth it though, just clean afterward.

*been doing this for awile, primarily with marzocchis and a boxxer, no long term problems or issues with contamination of the internals. hope this helps

I used it last season on the guys bikes...works pretty good-but if you are going to use a slider tube lube, nothing works like Brunox. Both require constant cleaning, wiping, reapplying. The finish line stuff is fine easy to get. I dont know where u get Brunox at, I always got mine from the Rock Shox guys.

I use spray silicon lube. The trick that the RS techs showed me was to stich the tip of a small zip tie into the dust wiper to pry it open a little. The spray in there. Like Stik said. Every ride and the fork will be butter.

I tried the Finish Line stuff...got it free at a bike show. Didn't do anything.

So you can basicly use anything from chain lube to triflow to silicone spray lube to fork oil??? I was just curious what you can use to lube the stanchion's (fork oil seems like the least harmfull) but if you can use things like triflow and such I might give it a try. I was just worried about some of the lubes eating the seals.

I used it and 2 other guys on my team did as well when we had Dorados. Two of the guys on the team didn't...and their forks wound up seizing on them at the first mud race. It honestly and truly accelerated the break in period of the fork quite a bit. I would vouch for it based solely off of that.
To be honest, any wet lube that dries and bonds teflon particles to the stanchion is going to help. Tri-Flow is what comes to mind first.

I really liked the Finish Line because the packaging was very clean and well thought out. The little brillo pad worked good. And the little pack and applicator straw were handy. It's something most people wouldn't think of but I definitely think it helps.

I think the finish line stuff works better than anything else that I have used.
It is also very thin, and does not attract as much dust. If you use something like slick honey, dirt will pick itself off the ground and jump on your fork legs.
Finish Line is a really important if you are using a naturally sticky fork like SPV Slider or something. That lube really helped that thing.

actually if you are at a Norba or World cup go look what the Rock Shox techs use to prep and rebuild forks with , they are also going to be using the Disc Doctor to clean up disc brakes too

I use Tri-Flo to a pretty good effect. I have an upside down fork and ended up putting a small neoprene booty between the uppers and lowers, no effect on the travel, but keeps the dust off the seals by acting as an air filter to the seals.

What's in the Disc Doctor? Is it just aerosol alcohol?
