I'll be there. A Family reunion in DC was the same as first weekend of dhing. Windrock would have been fun, but sleeping on the bathroom floor due to relatives I haven't seen in 10 years was overdue. But, I'll be there sunday morning.

We'll be there on the 27th. Look for a black Tacoma with Ontario plates and some slow speaking Canadians.

Well, thats encouraging. I did the ride around and thought to myself that there would be no way I could do the drop if the ride around was that hard. I could barely get back under control by the second drop towards the road.

I would say that the speed you carry off that thing will be a factor. I will have to give it a go at a mild rate of speed and then adjust the tempo. Plus, it sounds like (since I wasn't there to see it) hitting from the far left would help to scrub some speed heading into the next section.
But don't listen to me I haven't even ridden the trail yet.
Ahh we're used to Bromont. I'm looking forward to some steep nasty rocky trail to wake us up from a winter of hibernation.
profro

The group from Michigan has riden both Bromont and Windrock and I think they said they compare well. Plus what I have seen in Earthed of Bromont, they look similar. Bring some extra der. hangers and derailleurs. Southern Rocks trails is going to be a graveyard for those. Bloch was the first to loose one in there. :dead:

Saw you faster riderz hit that rock drop by the road at the bottom..
Pretty much looks like you're along for the ride after that in a "both brakes ON sliding down steepness " style, it was cool .
Bought some New Hayes hydro's today--so i'll be even more ready for Next Sunday !

I camp out in my bed, which is about 19 miles away. :D
I can't agree more with Spoke. Shuttling is crazy hard on vehicles and the locals cannot be responsible for providing them. I limit my truck to 5 (and the occupants are usually pre-arranged), after that it just gets stupid. Crankarms, pedals, and body armor hanging everywhere. Its too much to safetly keep your truck in decent shape weekend after weekend.

I hear ya, last year at the beginning of the season I was so gun-ho and I wrecked all the time, but this year I'm taking it easy and I'm going to pregress back up to speed. Going too hard and getting hurt is no fun when you can't ride. :( heal up man.

just use ur imagination....
millions and millions of rocks with 10 foot boulders inside of the millions of rocks all on a super super steep slope. makes snowshoe look like a big sport course. the very first trail u start on has a 15 foot drop(if u have the right speed) like a 100 ft into the trail...no "warm up" trails here.

I checked out your pics and if you are looking for wooden bridges and all that well we're not that core. We just have some stupid old singletrack with some rocks that are constantly in your way. Pictures wouldn't do any good since once you see how lame it is at Windrock you would make fun of us and beat us up. I did take a few here and there of the new stuff and I'll post them later today or tomorrow.

1. The new trails have such a different flavor than the 2004 trails.
2. The BFL levers I got for my Mag brakes are really sweet.
3. I'm feeling that step-up in speed again and I love it. I'm feeling it the most on the Spine and the first section bewteen the drop-off point and the first road crossing.
4. With all the new lines in the first rock garden, there is so much to learn.
5. The waterfall section is smoking right now!
6. The new section after the first double and the first rock garden is fast and full of big hits. I dig it!
7. And Southern Rocks is what it is all about PEROID

After watching those dudes drive out yesterday I was hit with a feeling of isolation. How is it that four guys would drive 13 hours from Canada just to see what there is to ride at Windrock. Heck they have to drive 8 hours just to ride some DH. I am just overcome with how wack the scene is but how very fortunate we all are to have such a kick ass place to ride. ANd to tell you the truth I don't want anyone to know about what we have.

The ironic part of that being that he was 50 yards away when I first spotted him and started braking :D

Yeah, I have to say that Saturday and Sunday were some of the best riding we've had out there. The whole crew was super cool and the riding and weather were perfect, not to mention how great the trails are.
I can't beleive there were 4 Dh9s out there. Dang!

I gotta admit, it was intimidating coming up and seeing ALL Yeti's (well OK, and one Demo) in the back of the Truck. Got my blood flowing for sure!!! But it was the most fun I've had in a long time! You guys can rip and thanks so much for inviting us to ride your digs. And even though it was 13hrs to drive it was worth it!! If that's the price we pay for getting to meet and ride with some of the coolest people I've met - who can also rip - then it's well worth it. But next time we have to make sure we get some Buddy's BBQ!!!!!!
Now, I will have you know that a good cook who can match his wines to his meal is a skilled panty dropper!!!! If you need help (cough*BEN*cough) then I would be happy to supply you with some recipes and step by step instructions along with recommended wines [;)]. And yes I would make some lucky lady an excellent wife [:D]!! I'm just waiting for the right sugar momma!! Cheers Boys!!

Hmm... I love that beer can chicken!! Toss on some blackening on the outside and BBQ 'er up! How about this then, next time we'll split the BBQ and we'll have a cook-off ;)!!
The Band is Rise Against, and the 2 albums we were rockin out to were Siren Song of the Counter Culture and Revolutions per Minute. Both are rockin, and the only way to listen to punk is LOUD!!! :D
PS - It's poutine, but I agree with the poo-tine pronounciation, that and with all that gravy on there it's almost reminiscent of a rough day after a fun night of drinking :P

Get some ribs and fixins and after a good day of DH that would kill! I like the way you think Cam I feel that good food is highly underated. So when are you coming back? We might have to schedule the race around your return, maybe in the fall when the leaves kick on. I believe I can get a man sized grill by that time.

A man sized grill you say!?!?! Ex-cellent!! Hehehehe..... I may have to smuggle in a fresh 8 lb salmon!! Hmm... cedar smoked salmon with olive oil and lemon zest marinade.....
General conscensus seems to be sometime around early september. The last time I rode with leaves on the ground I ended up with 2 cracked ribs . But then again I was whipping around the Enduro trails in 4th WOT and forgot about a turn at the bottom of a short hill....:help: Oh look the forest for the trees!!!!!. But I'm not bitter!!! That sounds like quite the challenge... Southern Rocks in some wet leaves  , sounds perfect!!!!!!!! Seperate the men from the mice!!!!

Our leaves don't hit the ground until World Series time in late October. September its still green and summer like. I would say early October would be best.
I'm thinking a week long vacation in October starting with a race in Plattekill then head down to Knoxville for a week of riding.
I'll bring some more Creemore.

And we'll bring some other stuff from some local micro breweries. There's some called Steamwhistle that's brewed right here in Toronto. It's a nice Pilsner. And if you don't like I'll drink it ;)!! Another is Cameron's Cream Ale. We'll take 2 trucks next time and bring more booze to fill the space :D!
And by then I'll have my bike the way I want, FTD fork and Curnutt w/Ti spring an all :D!! I can't wait!!! Hehehehehe....

On the upside I finally got my dirtbike up and running again. New Wiseco piston head and the PowerNow system :D. Hehehehe, it's sooo very loud :D. I get through a 1/4 of the throttle before I have to stop cuz it hurts my head in the garage. I can't wait to get it on the trails. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks the sand pits will clear up of snow and we can begin to rip in em!! Mwahahaha!!!!

yup...just sent you an invite. The way it stores your emails is cool too. It is super easy to use and loads way fast...doesn't have all those damn banner ads of Hotmail either. It pays for itself with little underlined topics on the right side(text only, no graphics). They usually relate to the topic of your email. I just sent you an invite. You can only get it if invited. Then if you got a buddy in another state with a fat CD, they can just email you tracks 1-2 at a time.

Look out Ben.
Butch is getting some kind of cut off of those things. He tried to whore it out to me too. He sounded like Tony Little trying to sell me a Gazelle.
He has worked some kind of marketing deal between five ten shoes, posting pics of a Cane Creek headset, and signing up peeps for gmail. ;)
