My friend and I are heading up to Whistler this summer and I had a quick question for all you who have been there.
I ride an 04 Specialized SX (the silver one with 4.5in of travel) and I was curious if there are any trails at the bike park that are simply too crazy for this bike. I'm not super clean, but I'm no hack, I'm just not really down with droppin 12ft on 4.5in on travel, it hurts a lil bit. Thanx :thumb:

you will be fine, tons of smooth trails to ride, that would bea killer A-line, Dirt Merchant and more trails bike.

that travel will be fine on everything there. I found myself wanting more travel though, especially on A-line and D-Merchant because of all the braking bumps. I had a 6"/6" RFX and it was seriously harsh in the bumps. Frickin spodes always hitting the brakes right before a 20' tall berm.. .wtf. Prepare to have your arms beat up by the end of the day.

Yeah, I rode all day on a 4" bike once. Almost everything is doable, you just get worked more. Lot's o' braking bumps.

I ride an '04 SX and I don't think there's anything there that'll kill the bike or anything that's too steep to roll/drop in to. Sure you can't take the bad line that your buddy riding an 8"front/8" rear can clean but you learn to pick your lines better. I used to ride a 2003 BigHit w/2001 Boxxer and never really cared for A-line or Dirt Merchant. After riding the SX on those two trails I got hooked.

The only thing you might want to do is swap out for a lighter spring.. I swapped out the 750lb spring for a 550lb to help deal with the braking bumps.
