I don't see alot of people talking about Norco bikes? I know in the past they had issues with that monoque frame being loud and clunky. I also know they are a bit on the heavy side, but this year's line up is pretty sick, and they seem to keep their prices down compared to alot of other companies, which, are now basically selling DH/FR bikes for the cost of a new YZF250... :nono:
I'm really liking the Norco Six for what I'll be using it for, and if I get a job out west that A-line looks pretty tight. Just curious why I don't see people ranting and raving about them, especially for what you get for the $$$$.?

My friend has an A-Line, it is really nice considering the price he got it for. The 4hun and 250 Dirt are sick hardtails (haven't actually rode them in person, but heard good things and looks count for something right?) Actually I did ride my friends 4hun for about 2 min and it felt comfortable. Norcos are cool bikes, I like em.

if you can afford it, get the aline its such a sick bike. ive rode it prety much every day since i got it. front to back its an aweome bike. the only drawback on the entire bike is the 888VF but thats only because you cant adjust them. "but" the factory stup is killer, the only way you would need to worry about it is if your a bit of a heavyer rider and take prety big drops to flat. i love them so smooth and fluid  ...the brakes are so powerful too, really easy to adjust and great modulation. umm what else can i say about it... it a bit heavy but oh well the frame is so strong, reinforced on the headtube and huge welds around the BB. ive prety much rode this bike over a clif(not quite but a big long relly steep downhill)already and it was awsome. really easy to keep the front end up when going over drops on the way down. its also very easy to ballance on the skinnies. the tires are super grippy in almost anything, i live up in northern bc so theres still snow and ice(almost gone :D )but ive never fell because of it. the only thing it lacks is a bashguard and i have one of thoes ordered and its going to be in in a week. anything else you wanna know just ask...

lots of talk in Canada, the Nocro Six won Mountain biking magazine's bike of the year too
they have refined the bikes very nicely and keep them at a reasonable price, the older ones were clunky, noisy and unrefined but the rider/racer input of their factory team has helped a lot

I'm happy that you see a company like Norco change their DH frame design once in a while...unlike...ehem...kona...ehem...
As an FSR whore, the price and increasing refinement makes them very appealing to me.
I like the six a lot.

My buddy had a last years six, and i had last years A-line(just a short while)... I'm stoked on the SIx this year, If I was in an area that offered Mtn's, I'd be getting the A-line, looks tight!!!

Check on Pinkbike, there are tons of Norcos for sale at least. Yea my friend had one once, it was pretty cool. It sounded like a tin can though.

Yeaaa, but this forum is much better. I like how it is laid out more. There is less eye candy to distract my eyes to I can focus better on where I am going.

Is $2250 with free shipping a good price for a 2005 Norco Six?

I was never very impressed with the older norcos.
The mainframes were beefy but the linkage was pretty spindley.
The old monoque (SP?) was pretty average as it weighed more and made a lot of noise.
Norco also stuck with the fox RCs on their DH rigs while everyone else was specing swingers and 5ths, which turned me off them.
The leverage ratio on older norcos wasnt the hottest either but I'm pretty sure thats sorted now.
The DHX is the best choice for a mass produced rear shock IMO and norco now use regular tubing in their frame designs so IMO they are a pretty sweet ride these days.

Is $2250 with free shipping a good price for a 2005 Norco Six?
*brings out norco catalogue and looks at spec's* i think it a reasonable deal the msrps are $2,949 Cdn. and With 66R:$3,199 Cdn. so i think it sounds like an awesome deal.
the forks have rebound and preload adjust so that give you something to play with, the fox dhx is a sweet shock i love the one on my bike just makes sure the seatpost doesnt hit the resivoir. should be fine with the teliscoping seatpost. theyve thrown in some truvative stuff and some sram stuff so you have a mostly shimano( ) free drivetrain. the rims are just a level down from what i got i love the alex supera rims very strong. go for it youll love it....
(side note: i noticed an error in the catalogue. they say the bike is only in dark matte red and as far as i could tell the pic they have of the bike is grey, not even close to red... but oh well...)
btw the leverage ratio is 3.25:1 (ithink)
