I already searched the topic and couldn't come up with anything in the first 5 pages. I need some good flat pedals. I was wondering if anybody has had anytime in the BMW shinburgers or the NYC glory holes? Which ones do you think are stronger, grippier, and or better for the money(100?). Any other reccomendations besides these two would be helpful.

I am a big fan of the NYC pedals: Super grip, great feeling, will shed mud much better than the Shinburgers, top quality pedal. I also think they are much better looking pedals.

Do a better search. I posted about 2 or 3 thread about the Glory Holes and flat pedals. There are a lot of pics, weights, and other info. Type in Glory Hole in the search function at the top.

Eastons are unreal, Block 8s are cool too. My buddy has the BMW shinburgers, they spin a little freely and get clogged in mud.

Yeah, google glory hole and see if it turns up anything good....

Those azonic pedals are good, albeit kinda heavy.

Easton Cully's - great pedals and awesome company to back that up.

I sent them a pair a few months ago that I had trashed for over two years. The body was almost completely silver from being bashed on rocks and they didn't have any pins. I still sent them the pedals because my bearings had some play - next thing you know they sent me a BRAND NEW pair!! :thumb:

I got some Woodman Spike Comps last week and mounted those - will see if those last longer than the OE pins that come on them.

well i would go for a set of burgtec penthouse flats as i just go a set and they rule, really grippy and an awesome build.but i would have to agree with acidian that easton cullys are also a reallly grippy pedal and can take a fair amount of abuse

The Tioga MX pedals (like 60 bucks) have worked for me for a while, there are tons of optional pin holes you can use and even with half of the holes filled they're uber-grippy.

Maybe it's just because I'm light, or that I don't mind that my spindles are bent a little, but why do people shell out for pedals that can be had at BMX dealers for half the price??

Easton's customer service/warranty would be a good reason

the new specialized flats are pretty good also. I've tried ringle zu-zu but they do not hold up at all and atomlab trail kings, i never had a problem with the atomlabs but find the special eds to grip much better.

Who is running the XPedo Mags? I'm glad the non-CNC ones are relatively affordable.
I might try them as a replacement for my MG-1s, which have worked great for me for a year, but I'm always worried that they will break due to the tiny spindle.

I just put the Xpedo mags on my bike. They are supper grippy and super light. Acadian and I are the only ones I know that have the mags. I dont know how reliable they are but for the price if they last a season I would be happy.

Take a look at the Burgtec's they are superbly made but of course pricey. Dan Critchlow from the Intense UK Team is one of the founders they shed mud very well and the UK team used them at all the World Cups last season with out a single break in the pedal.

This is the first pair of flats Ive had on my bike. I use to run clipless. I have ridden my buddys bike with Flatboys and I think they feel almost the same except the Xpedo has bigger pins so it feels like it has more traction.... almost too much. The pins are placed more uniform so the pedal feels nice. I cant really explain it. Look at the pedals and you will see what I mean... The Flatboys have the two mid pins on the outside of the pedal while the Xpedo has the middle pins on the outside of the foot and on the inner part of the foot. More of a uniform feeling. Make sense?

if you want cheap pedals that have crazy grip, get some TruVative Holzfeller's, i just got them last week, and they grip like no other, its almost as if they stick in the rubber of your shoe, and dont come out, almost like clipless except no clips, they are crazy, but a killer if you slam your shin without a shin gaurd. i got a pair for 70 bucks

Those pedals look nice, but they have no concave, and i don't understand why they machined out that little patern in the middle, should have just made them a couple of mm thinner or put on some concave. But the bushing sytem sounds kewl, let us know how they work out.

HA!

The distributer out here is a knob jock. I had a set of easton flatboys and they exploded. I tried for 5 months to get spare parts from easton australia, i even tried emailing the US branch of Easton but they didn't give a toss. My bike shop ended up finding some bearings at a local bearing shop but they are a little too small so the pedal moves on the spindle. They are currently sitting in my box of broken stuff. Over $200AUS down the drain. If anyone from easton is reading this you should send ME a free set of pedals too for all the fugging around you made me do. Your product is dodgy and the support here is even worse. Almost no one i know will touch easton stuff out here

Currently running Azonic A-frames, 7 months and going strong, and half the price. Recomended :thumb:

My Xpedos came with regular and spike pins and a tool. I altered the tool to make it work a little easier. I just bent it a little. I have the regular on one side and the spikes on the other side. Im trying to see which I like better.

Yeh, i end up buying most of my stuff from the US now. If the importers are not going to support or warrenty anything then i will just buy it cheaper from O/S.

We do have some good importers though, the guy that imports Turner and the guys that import Santa Cruz are way cool.

Man, i can't wait for winter to come around so i don't have to ride in 35 degree heat under the hole in the ozone layer :D

Like with all new pedals you should take all the pins out and loctite them in. If you don't you will loose pins regardless of what the pedal is.

I still prefer the Cully's as far as grip goes. I don't know if it's because mine have the sharp spike pins, but they don't grip that well.

Platform feels okay tho..

Put the regular pins in. I dont think the spikes grip as well. They are actually shorter. I have spikes on one side and regular pins on the other so I can compare pretty good. Im goin to change them out the next time I get a chance and run just the regular pins.
